Sesame Chicken Strips TGIs style Fakeaway Recipe Jack Daniels

large skinless chicken breast fillets
2 slices of wholemeal bread, blitzed in a blender to make breadcrumbs
1 tsp paprika
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 large eggs, beaten
2 tsp sesame seeds
Pinch salt
For the glaze:
2 large cloves garlic, finely diced
1 onion, finely diced
3 tbsp sweetener
2 tbsp pineapple juice
½ cups Teriyaki Sauce
2 tbsp Soy Sauce
6 tbsp Lemon Juice
5 tsp Cider Vinegar
1 teaspoon Red Wine Vinegar
2 tbsp Jack Daniel's Whiskey
¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper

Steps:

  • First, make the glaze.
  • In a pan, add some low-calorie cooking spray and add in the diced onion and garlic. Stir to combine and cook for 2 mins.
  • Mix the pineapple juice, Teriyaki Sauce, Soy Sauce Lemon Juice, Cider Vinegar, Red Wine Vinegar, whiskey and Cayenne pepper. Pour over the onion and garlic mixture, then bring to the boil, stir it occasionally, then reduce the heat. Add in the sweetener.
  • Simmer until thickened and reduced by half.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the chicken. Slice the breasts into strips, then crack the eggs in a bowl.
  • Mix breadcrumbs, paprika, salt, garlic powder together with half of the sesame seeds.
  • Dip the chicken in the egg mix, then into the breadcrumb mix until coated.
  • Lay the strips out onto a lined baking sheet, then spray with low-calorie cooking spray.
  • Cook in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • When the chicken is ready, coat it fully in the glaze. Mix well, then sprinkle with the rest of the sesame seeds and serve with some salad.

1 1/2 lbs chicken tenders
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 pinch cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 green onion, finely chopped
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Line a large shallow baking pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.
  • In a medium bowl, add the garlic, salt, soy sauce, hoisin, honey, oil and a pinch of cayenne. Add the chicken tenders to the sauce and turn to coat.
  • Arrange the tenders in a single layer on the baking pan, turning over once, until cooked through, about 20 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the chicken with the toasted sesame seeds and onions and serve.
