Sunflower, Bacon and Parmesan Bow-tie Pasta Salad image

One of my co-workers found this recipe from a local grocery store; when we have potlucks we hope he'll make this salad. It's very easy and very tasty - but you really can't go wrong with bacon and parmesan-now can you? (The cooking time - includes the minimum chill time.)

Ingredients

12 ounces bow tie pasta, cooked according to directions
1 1/2 cups bottled parmesan salad dressing, divided
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced green onion, tops included
3 tablespoons diced pimentos or 1 small diced red pepper
1/2 lb bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

Steps:

Cook pasta according to directions on box, drained.
Add 1 cup of parmesan dressing, celery, onions, pimento/red pepper to pasta.
Toss to mix.
Chill several hours or overnight.
Prior to serving, add remaining 1/2 cup dressing, bacon and sunflower seeds.
Toss to mix and serve.

This recipe appeared in our local paper. It seems a little different from the usual pasta salads. You can also add 3 or 4 grilled chopped chicken breasts to the salad for a main dish.

1 (16 ounce) box bow tie pasta
2 tomatoes, chopped into large chunks
1 lb green beans, trimmed and snapped into pieces
1 (1 ounce) package hidden valley ranch dressing mix
3 tablespoons sunflower seeds, roasted and salted
parsley or other fresh herb, minced
olive oil

Steps:

Cook bowtie pasta in a large pot of boiling, salted water according to package directions. The last 3 to 5 minutes of cooking time, add the green beans. Drain in colander.
In large bowl combine pasta, green beans, tomatoes and chopped parsley and/or herbs. Fold in a few turns of olive oil. (Add more to taste.) Sprinkle in the Hidden Valley Ranch packet and sunflower seeds. Serve or refrigerate for later.
