1 cup chili sauce, bottled
1/4 cup onion, chopped
3 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon brown sugar, packed
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce (I use tabasco)
1/8 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup bottled chili sauce, 1/4 cup chopped onions, 3 T. vinegar, 1 teaspoons packed brown sugar, 1 clove crushed garlic, 1/4 teaspoons dry mustard, 1/4 teaspoons bottled hot pepper sauce, and 1/8 teaspoons salt.
  • Bring to boiling. Reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered 10 minutes, stirring often.
  • Serve warm or cool.

250 g red chilies, chopped
3 cups sugar
3 cups white vinegar
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon grated gingerroot
150 g sultanas

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a large pot.
  • Simmer for 40 minutes.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Puree.
  • Store in sterilised jars.

2 lbs ground beef
1 cup chopped sweet onion (Vidalia)
1 chopped garlic clove
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 1/2 diced jalapeno peppers
2 (15 ounce) cans chili beans
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can of petite diced tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons Accent seasoning, flavor enhancer
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3-1/2 cup honey

Steps:

  • Crumble ground beef in large pan; add accent flavor enhancer (optional).
  • Brown ground beef.
  • Add onion, green pepper, and garlic.
  • Cook until onion is translucent/brown; drain oil.
  • Add tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, chili beans, chili powder, cumin, thyme, salt and cinnamon.
  • Stir and simmer on low for at least 25 minutes.
  • Add honey; stir again.
  • Serve alone, over rice, or spaghetti.
  • Serve with cheese & crackers is a must!
  • Oh--great with corn bread as well!

3/4 pound beef sirloin tip steak, cubed
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 pound ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
4 cans (16 ounces each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
3 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes with mild green chilies, undrained
2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
1 can (12 ounces) root beer
1 cup strong brewed coffee
1 cup beef broth
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon baking cocoa
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
1 teaspoon dried oregano

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, brown steak in oil. Remove and set aside. Add the ground beef, onions and garlic to the pan; cook and stir over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain., Return steak to the pan; stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours or until beef is tender.
