Ingredients

2 lime wedges, plus 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
Coarse salt, for the glass
Ice cubes, for the cocktail shaker and the glass
1 1/2 ounces blanco tequila
3/4 ounce agave
1 tablespoon frozen blood orange puree, thawed (see Cook's Note)

Steps:

Rub 1 of the lime wedges around the outside of the rim of the margarita glass, and then roll it in the salt. Fill the glass with ice.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour the tequila, lime juice, agave and blood orange puree over the ice. Shake vigorously 10 times. Strain into the margarita glass, garnish with the remaining lime wedge and serve.

2 ounces blood orange juice
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1 ounce triple sec
1/2 ounce simple syrup (1 part sugar, 1 part water)
lime juice, a splash
blood orange wedge, for garnish

Steps:

Add the first 5 ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice; shake vigorously.
Strain into a chilled margarita glass filled with ice cubes.
To serve a frozen version-combine the first 5 ingredients with ¾ cup crushed ice in a blender; blend until smooth; pour into a margarita glass.
Garnish with a blood orange wedge.
