SPICY SHRIMP PASTA IN GARLIC TOMATO CREAM SAUCE



Spicy Shrimp Pasta in Garlic Tomato Cream Sauce image

Italian-style pasta with spicy shrimp smothered in a homemade garlic tomato cream sauce. Easy shrimp pasta recipe that you can make at home any time with easy ingredients!

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound shrimp (without shells, and deveined)
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 small onion (finely chopped)
4 garlic cloves (minced)
2 cups canned crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup water
1/2 cube chicken bullion ((I used Knorr))
1 tablespoon basil
1/4 teaspoon oregano (dried)
1/2 cup heavy cream
8 oz penne pasta ((for gluten free version, use brown rice penne))

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook on one side for about 1 minute, until shrimp turns pink on that side. While it cooks, sprinkle the top of shrimp with crushed red pepper, paprika and salt to cover every single shrimp. Make sure not to crowd the shrimp in the skillet, otherwise moisture will form and shrimp won't sear right. And, don't skimp on spices. Using spatula turn shrimp over to the other side and cook for about 2 more minutes.
  • Remove shrimp to a plate, being careful to leave all the oil in the skillet.
  • To the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic and cook on medium high heat in the olive oil that will have a nice reddish color from paprika and crushed red pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes, occasionally stirring, until onions soften.
  • Add crushed tomatoes and chicken bullion cube dissolved in 1/4 cup boiling water. Add basil and oregano, mix, bring to boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, mixing occasionally and crushing all tomatoes into very small bites, until the sauce reduces just a bit. Season with more red pepper and salt, if needed. In the end, while on simmer, add heavy cream, mix it in, and immediately remove from heat.
  • In the mean time, bring a large pot of water to boil and cook pasta al dente according to the package instructions. Drain.
  • Add back the cooked shrimp and cooked and drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Mix everything well to combine. Reheat on low simmer, if needed. Do not bring to boil or high heat as it might affect the sauce texture. Add more salt and pepper if necessary.
  • When serving, I like to sprinkle the top of pasta with just a touch of crushed red pepper.

2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
avocado, Sliced
coleslaw mix
flour tortilla
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Mix first 7 ingredients and toss with shrimp. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.
  • Skewer shrimp on long metal skewers and place on preheated indoor grill on med-high for about 3 minutes per side.
  • Mix together all the sauce ingredients.
  • Warm tortilla, spread some of the sauce on tortilla. Top with avocado, coleslaw mix and 3 to 4 shrimp on top and then enjoy!

2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 cups chicken broth
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup minced fresh parsley

Salt and pepper to taste
2 pounds large uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
Hot cooked noodles or rice

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add broth and garlic. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat. Stir in the cream, parsley, paprika, salt and pepper., Butterfly shrimp, by cutting lengthwise almost in half, but leaving shrimp attached at opposite side. Spread to butterfly. 1 lb baby shrimp (no shell)
2 teaspoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced &,divided
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder

Steps:

  • While making the sauce, cook the pasta.
  • Put olive oil in sauce pan and let it heat up.

  • Then add cream, chili powder, cayenne pepper, pepper flakes and salt.
  • Bring to a boil, and then put heat to medium high.

1/2 cup real mayonnaise
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoons Szechuan seasoning
2 cups tempura batter mix (recommended: Hime)
1 1/2 cups ice water
1 pound rock shrimp*
Endives, for garnish
Crispy onions (recommended: French's Original), for garnish

Steps:

  • Add enough oil in skillet to come 2 inches up the side of the pan. Heat oil to 375 degrees F.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, heavy cream and Szechuan seasoning.
  • Once oil is heated, in a large bowl combine tempura mix and ice water. Mixture will be thick and lumpy. Working in batches, dip rock shrimp in batter (shaking off any excess) and add to oil. Fry for 2 to 4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove shrimp from oil and drain with a slotted spoon. Make sure oil temperature does not fall below 350 degrees F. Skim oil between batches.
  • In a large bowl toss cooked shrimp in sauce until lightly coated. Serve warm on endive leaves. Top with french-fried onions.

2 tablespoons butter
4 to 6 ounces medium to large shrimp (chopped)
3 green onions (sliced)
2 tablespoons of flour
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons Creole seasoning (or to taste)
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 1/4 cups half-and-half (or whole milk)
3 to 4 drops Tabasco (or a similar hot sauce)
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Add the chopped shrimp and sliced green onions; sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Stir the flour and 1 teaspoon of Creole seasoning into the shrimp mixture and continue to cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add the half-and-half or milk to the shrimp mixture. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook until thickened.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in the Tabasco sauce. Taste and add the salt and extra Creole seasoning, as needed.
  • Serve on top of broiled or grilled fish fillets or hot cooked pasta. ​
  • Enjoy.

8 cloves garlic, unpeeled
12 large shrimp, peeled
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
8 ounces fresh linguine, cooked and drained

Steps:

  • In a saucepan bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Using a small paring knife, remove the vein along the back of each shrimp and rinse under running water. Add garlic to water and boil for two minutes. Add the shrimp to the water and cook with the garlic for 2-3 minutes. Drain the shrimp and garlic. Peel the garlic and finely chop. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Cook until cream begins to thicken. Stir in parsley, Parmesan and shrimp. Season with salt and pepper. Pour sauce over linguine in a large bowl and toss to coat. Garnish with parsley and Parmesan.

1 (16 ounce) container nonfat sour cream
2 teaspoons chili powder, divided
1 teaspoon cumin, ground (divided)
3/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, divided

3/4 cup water
1 lb shrimp, medium (unpeeled)
3 tablespoons orange juice
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 avocado, chopped
8 corn tortillas, warmed (6-inch size)

Steps:

  • Whisk together sour cream, 1 teaspoons chili powder, 1/2 teaspoons cumin, 1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes, 1/4 teaspoons salt and cinnamon. Add 3/4 cup water, stirring until smooth. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
  • Peel shrimp, and devein. If desired, chop. Combine remaining 1 teaspoons chili powder, 1/2 teaspoons cumin, 1/4 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes and 1/2 teaspoons salt in a shallow dish or a zip-lock plastic freezer bag; add orange juice and shrimp, turning to coat. Cover or seal, and chill 15 minutes.
  • Remove shrimp from marinade, discarding marinade. Saute garlic in hot oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat 2-3 minutes. Add shrimp, and cook 5 minutes or just until shrimp turns pink. Serve with sour cream mixture and avocado in warm tortillas. Prep time includes refrigeration time.

1/4 cup kosher salt
1 lb linguine
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons creole seasoning
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup jalapeno, finely chopped
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 cup diced tomato
1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water
1 cup monterey jack pepper cheese, grated
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
2 tablespoons basil leaves, chopped

Steps:

  • Set a large 1-gallon stock pot of water to a boil and add the kosher salt. Place the linguine in the pot and stir the pot until the water returns to a boil. Cook the pasta until tender, but with a bit of resistance (al dente), about 12 minutes. Drain and reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  • While the pasta cooks, prepare the sauce. Set a 12-inch saute pan over medium-high heat. Add the butter and olive oil to the pan. Once the butter has melted, season the shrimp with 1 tablespoon of the creole seasoning and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and add the shrimp to the pan. Sear the shrimp until well browned on both sides, about 2 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Add the onions and jalapenos to the pan and saute until the onions are softened and lightly caramelized, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add the garlic to the pan and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the cream, remaining 1 tablespoon of creole seasoning, remaining 1 1/4 teaspoons of the salt and the pepper to the pan and bring to a boil. Cook the sauce until the cream is reduced by half, about 2 minutes.
  • Return the shrimp to the pan, and add the tomatoes, linguine and the reserved cooking water to the pan and cook, tossing to incorporate for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove pan from the heat and add the Pepper Jack, Parmesan and basil and toss to blend. Serve immediately.
