SPICY APPLESAUCE FRUIT BREAD

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, whisk 2 cups flour, baking powder, salt, spices and baking soda. In another bowl, whisk eggs, applesauce, sugars, melted butter and orange zest until blended. Add to flour mixture; stir just until moistened. In a small bowl, toss cranberries and candied citron with remaining flour; fold into batter., Transfer to 2 greased 8x4-in. loaf pans. Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool.

SPICY APPLESAUCE

- In a Dutch oven, combine all ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 25-35 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; mash apples to desired consistency. Serve warm or cold. Freeze option: Freeze cooled applesauce in freezer containers. To use, thaw in refrigerator overnight. Serve cold or heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally.

- Peel, core, and cut the apples into 1 1/2-inch pieces; place in a medium saucepan with sugar and 1/4 cup apple juice. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring, until apples are soft enough to mash, 50 to 60 minutes.
- Add the remaining cup of apple juice, and continue to cook until the apples are very soft and break down, about 30 minutes. Using wooden spoon, stir to break large pieces. If applesauce gets too dry, add more juice, 1/4 cup at a time as needed. Remove saucepan from heat, and whisk apples until smooth. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Serve at room temperature.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Generously grease two 7x3x2-inch loaf pans.
- In a small bowl, combine topping ingredients; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine applesauce, sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and milk; set aside.
- In a small bowl, sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the dry ingredients (does not include topping) to the applesauce mixture; beat well.
- Fold in pecans.
- Pour this mixture evenly into the two prepared pans.
- Sprinkle topping evenly over the two loaf pans.
- Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool prior to slicing.

This is a delicious flavorful quick-bread that was one of the first things I made when I started baking. Yummy! (Note: I made it without the nuts and it came out just fine).

- Preheat oven to 350°F Line the bottom and sides of a 9"x5" loaf pan with waxed paper and grease.
- Break the egg into a bowl and beat lightly. Stir in the apple sauce, butter or margarine, brown sugar and granulated sugar.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Fold the dry ingredients into the applesauce mixture in three batches.
- Stir in the currants or raisins and chopped pecans.
- Pour into the prepared pan and bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool. (Note: in my oven, it took only about 45 minutes to finish).

- Preheat your oven to 350 °F. Grease a standard 9x5 loaf pan and set aside.
- In a large bowl or in the bowl attached to a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugars until sooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Mix in the vanilla and applesauce.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and salt. Mix into the wet ingredients until combined completely.
- Stir in the nuts and raisins until mixed throughout the batter, then turn the batter out into the prepared pan, smoothing into an even layer

- Grease 9-inch square pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
