HOLIDAY SPICED CIDER RECIPE BY TASTY
Here's what you need: orange, whole clove, apple, whole allspice, cinnamon sticks, apple cider, brown sugar, nutmeg, whiskey

Steps:
- Pierce orange with cloves. (If you have a tea infuser, tea bag or cheese cloth, you can use that to keep the spices under control).
- Pierce apple with allspice.
- Put the orange, apple, cinnamon sticks, apple cider, brown sugar and nutmeg into your slow cooker.
- Turn on high for 2 hours, then keep warm on low until you're ready to drink.
- Drink as is or with a shot (or two) of whiskey, rum, etc.
- Enjoy!

This is an old family favorite, handed down from my great-grandmother. The holidays officially begin with Christmas carols and my favorite hot spiced tea! Definitely a seasonal comfort beverage for me! I prefer to use fresh juices with pulp. The flavors are different. Canned pineapple in light syrup is best. Set the pineapple chunks aside for the rest of your holiday baking. Store leftovers in refrigerator and reheat as needed.

- Pour water into a pot; add cloves and cinnamon stick. Bring water to a boil; remove from heat. Add tea bags to water and set aside to steep until the tea is to your preferred strength, at least 5 minutes. Remove and discard cloves, cinnamon stick, and tea bags.

- In a large pot over medium heat, add the apple cider. Stir in the brown sugar, allspice and nutmeg until the sugar is dissolved and bring to a low boil.
- Stick the pointy ends of the cloves into the orange so that just the buds of the cloves are visible. The entire orange should be covered with the cloves.
- Add the orange to the cider and reduce the heat to simmer. Cover and continue cooking for 20 minutes.
- Serve in warm mugs with a cinnamon stick garnish. For adults, add bourbon to the cider.

- Lightly crush the cinnamon, peppercorns, cloves, and cardamom pods in a mortar and pestle or on a cutting board with the bottom of a saucepan. Transfer to a medium saucepan, add the ginger, citrus peels. Put the crushed spices in a medium saucepan and add the water. QUICK & EASY SPICED APPLE CIDER TEA

- In a small saucepan, add the apple cider and cinnamon stick. Heat to boiling, reduce heat to a low simmer. Cover the pan with the lid and simmer on lowest heat for ten minutes so the cinnamon has time to meld with the cider.
- Place a tea bag in a cup and pour the hot cider over the tea bag. Steep for 2 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag, lightly pressing the remaining liquid into the cup with the back of a spoon. Garnish with the cinnamon stick and apple slice.
- Add the half gallon of apple cider in a large, heavy pot or enameled dutch oven and add the cinnamon sticks and star anise. Bring just to the boiling point, reduce heat to a low simmer and cover tightly with the lid. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the tea bags or place the loose tea in a to cider and place the lid tightly back on the pot. Let the tea steep for about 2 minutes.
- If you've used tea bags, remove them and ladle the hot apple cider tea into mugs. Divvy the cinnamon and star anise between the cups. Garnish with a slice of apple and enjoy.
- Place a fine mesh strainer over each cup and ladle a serving of the apple cider tea through the strainer to remove the loose tea. Garnish the tea with a cinnamon stick or star anise and a slice of apple.
