SPAGHETTI AND GARLIC BREAD BAKE

Spaghetti and Garlic Bread Bake image

This Spaghetti and Garlic Bread Bake Recipe combines the components of this classic American meal into one delicious casserole baked in the oven.

Provided by Jinxy Media

Time 1h6m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
14 ounce can diced tomatoes
8 ounce can tomato sauce
1 3/4 cups water
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
8 ounces spaghetti noodles
1 loaf of take-and-bake French or Italian bread
2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Garlic salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onion. Add in the garlic shortly before browned and continue cooking two minutes. Drain grease if necessary. (I used very lean beef, so this step wasn't necessary.) Add in diced tomatoes with their juices, tomato sauce, one cup of the water, salt and Italian seasoning. Let simmer for five minutes. Break the spaghetti in thirds and put in the bottom of a 13×9 baking dish. Pour remaining 3/4 cup water over pasta. Spread the meat mixture over the spaghetti. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes. While it's baking, slice bread into 1/2" thick slices. After 35 minutes, remove from oven and space bread slices across the top of the pan. Return to oven (uncovered) for 10 minutes. (If you're using fully baked bread you can skip this step.) Remove from oven again and top with shredded cheese, focusing on the bread slices, but letting some fall on top of pasta. Sprinkle top with garlic salt. Return to oven for 10 minutes or until cheese is fully melted and just starting to brown.

Baked Spaghetti in Garlic Bread Recipe - (4.4/5) image

Provided by á-6498

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 loaf of thawed dough
6 oz cooked spaghetti
1 cup of any sauce for the spaghetti (either tomato basil sauce or bolognaise) - must be thick
8 oz of mozzarella cubes
parmesan cheese
1 egg white, beaten
parsley or oregano flakes
garlic

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare flour onto a counter or use a baking sheet to roll the dough on. 2. Roll out the loaf into a large rectangle, about the thickness of less than an inch. 3. Set the dough at rest by covering it with a plastic wrap for about 12 minutes. 4. Boil spaghetti, drain and let cool. 5. Unwrap dough. 6. Drop the spaghetti in the center into a bundle from one end to the other, length-wise, leaving space on the sides for the folding. 7. Pour the sauce and mozzarella cubes onto the spaghetti. 8. Make even slits on both sides of the dough to create folds or flaps for folding. The flaps should be of the same width and wide enough to hold the filling together without tearing. 9. Fold the top and bottom part over the filling, in order to allow the first flaps to stick onto something. 10. Start folding flaps. Left over right, right over left. 11. Lastly, pull the last strip over and under the bread. 12. Carefully place bread on a large, greased, baking sheet. 13. Brush egg white and top with Parmesan cheese, gralic and parsley/oregano. 14. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 mins. 15. Let it cool before slicing and serving.

Meatball & garlic bread traybake image

Make this comforting meatball and garlic bread traybake for a dinner the whole family will enjoy. You could buy a pack of meatballs if you're short on time

Provided by Cassie Best

Categories     Dinner, Main course, Supper

Time 1h

Yield Serves 3 (or 2 adults and 2 children)

Number Of Ingredients 13

350g turkey thigh mince
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp fennel seeds
1½ tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tbsp tomato purée
2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes
2 tsp sugar
150g ball mozzarella, torn into pieces
4 garlic breadsticks or garlic bread slices, torn or chopped into chunks

Steps:

  • Combine the mince, oregano, fennel seeds and some seasoning in a bowl. Take walnut-sized pieces of the mixture and roll into balls. Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6.
  • Heat the remaining oil in the pan and add the onion. Cook until softened, about 10-12 mins, stirring regularly. Stir in the garlic for another minute, then the tomato purée, chopped tomatoes and sugar.
  • Simmer for 10-15 mins, then season to taste. Place the meatballs on top of the sauce, then add the mozzarella, garlic bread and the cheddar on top. Bake for 15-20 mins until golden and crisp.

SPAGHETTI WITH MEATBALLS AND GARLIC BREAD

Spaghetti With Meatballs and Garlic Bread image

These are good, richly flavored meatballs, baked in the oven, till pink, and then simmered in the sauce, you can make your own sauce, buy one, or cook the one given here. I have others on the site, but this is a good all-purpose one, and excellent on spaghetti, I think. You will not use all of the it.

Categories     Sauces

Time 1h10m

Yield 12 meatballs, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 32

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 garlic cloves, sliced fine
2 teaspoons creole seasoning
6 ounces tomato paste
2 tablespoons dry red wine
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup water
28 ounces of whole tomatoes with juice, crushed by hand
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper
nutmeg, grated
1 pinch dry basil
1 pinch dry oregano
1 pinch dried rosemary
1 pinch dried thyme
1 pinch dried dill
1 ounce parmigiano-reggiano cheese
1 fresh baguette, split in two
2 tablespoons milk
chopped fresh parsley, to taste
1 lb ground beef, 90% lean
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
garlic powder, to taste
grated parmesan cheese
1 lb good spaghetti or 1 lb other pastas
1 tablespoon butter (optional)
parmigiano-reggiano cheese, grated, for saucing
pasta water, if needed
parmigiano-reggiano cheese, for serving
chopped herbs, if desired

Steps:

  • Cook the sauce: Put the olive oil and sliced garlic into a heavy sauce pot or broad sauté pan. Turn the heat to medium-high.
  • Cook gently until the garlic becomes colored a light gold, then add the creole seasoning (do not omit this), and stir, once or twice.
  • Stir in the tomato paste, turn the heat down, and break up well with a metal whisk.
  • Add no salt, add pepper, if desired.
  • Put in the two (or three) tablespoons red wine, and reduce a little. Then add the broth, water, and tomatoes. Bring to a simmer, stirring every so often, and cook gently for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove pan from heat.
  • Make the meatballs: Put the egg, egg yolk, salt, pepper, to taste, the nutmeg and all the herbs into the bowl of a food processor. Grate in the cheese. Purée. Set aside.
  • Remove the soft white crumb from both sides of the split baguette. Measure 1/2 cup of it, save the remainder for another purpose, or discard.
  • Put into a bowl with the milk, squeeze between the fingers until it is well broken up.
  • Add to the food processor with the wet ingredients, and pulse to well combine.
  • Empty the contents of this into a bowl with the crumbled meat. Work to a paste, adding some chopped fresh parsley.
  • Form into 12 meatballs, and place evenly on a foil lined, sprayed sheet pan.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Remove, add to sauce, using a spatula to loosen balls, if necessary.
  • Keep oven on.
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil to cook pasta.
  • Combine olive oil and garlic powder to taste (1/2-1 teaspoon), brush on both sides of cut baguette.
  • Sprinkle lightly with Parmesan cheese, a pinch of salt and pepper, and chopped parsley if desired.
  • The bread needs to bake for 10 minutes, add it to the oven, on a sheet pan, to bake, when dropping the pasta.
  • Return the pan of sauce to the stove and bring to a gentle simmer, covered, simmer till done, but less than 10 minutes.
  • Drop the pasta into boiling salted water, cooking till al dente.
  • Retrieve the meatballs to a plate with tongs. Reserve a little of the pasta cooking water.
  • Drain the pasta, toss with the tablespoon of butter, if using, a handful or two of grated Parmesan cheese, and adding about 2 cups of the sauce. Thin lightly with cooking water if nessecary.
  • Cut the garlic toast into pieces. Place pasta on warm plates, topping each with three meatballs, and sprinkle each serving with more grated Parm.
  • Serve at once with garlic bread on the side, and if desired, any additional sauce.

BRAIDED SPAGHETTI BREAD (SPAGHETTI BAKED INSIDE GARLIC BREAD) !

Braided Spaghetti Bread (Spaghetti Baked Inside Garlic Bread) ! image

A great hit at any gathering. Contain yourself, you'll want to eat the whole loaf. You'll need to plan ahead just a bit. This recipe calls for a thawed loaf of Rhodes bread dough & it takes 6-8 hours for the bread to thaw at room temp. You can make the bread dough yourself or buy another brand. The dough rolls out much easier when it is warm. Roll it out as much as you can, then cover it and let it rest for 10 or 15 minutes. When you roll it out the 2nd time, it will roll much better. I have changed the recipe to use vegetarian "meat", you can use real meat if you like. And I add veggies to my spaghetti sauce-bell peppers, onions, eggplant, squash, and the list goes on! You can even leave out the spaghetti and just stuff it with veggies! From Bless This Food, who got it from the Rhodes website. You can also substitute pizza filling for the spaghetti filling and use pizza dough! Try it with alfredo sauce sometime, and you can also substitute spaghetti squash for the pasta, saving on carbs. So good! You can freeze this, you par-bake it and then freeze. Just enough to set it up without browning it, that way it can re-bake and cook all the way through until browning later. Go to http://blessthisfood.blogspot.com/2012/02/braided-spaghetti-bread-spaghetti-baked.html for step by step photos on how to make this.

Time 1h

Yield 1 large loaf, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 loaf rhodes bread dough, thawed to room temperature (or use other brand, or make your own homemade dough)
6 ounces spaghetti, cooked (or use angel hair)
1 cup thick spaghetti sauce
1/2 cup cooked vegetarian Italian sausage (or cooked veggie crumbles or hamburger) (optional)
8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
dried basil
smoked paprika (optional)
fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to 350* F. Lay out a large sheet of parchment paper (Do it. Don't even bother trying to go sans the paper. I'm 99% sure you'll make a mess when trying to transfer) & roll your loaf out into a 12x16 rectangle. Cover with plastic wrap & let it rest while you get everything else ready (10 min or so).
  • Cook your spaghetti (or angel hair) according to directions & drain. Mix in the tomato sauce & vegetarian Italian sausage/hamburger (or use real meat-optional) & let it cool slightly while you continue to prepare.
  • Cut your block of mozzarella into chunks.
  • Melt the butter in a microwave safe dish & stir in the minced garlic & a few pinches of basil. Uncover the dough & using a pastry brush, brush a little more than 1/2 of the butter mixture onto the dough.
  • Now spoon the spaghetti lengthwise in a 4-inch strip down the center of the dough- top with the mozzarella chunks.
  • Make cuts 1 1/2 inches apart on the long sides of the dough to within 1/2 inch of the filling.
  • Start braiding by folding the strips towards the filling- braid left over right, right over left, etc etc- all the way down.
  • Finish the ends by pulling the strips over & tucking under the braid.
  • Then brush the remainder of the garlic butter all over the top of the bread. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese, a little more basil & some garlic powder. Add smoked paprika to taste, a pinch or two. Sprinkle parsley over the top.
  • Slide the parchment paper to a large baking sheet & bake in your pre heated oven for 30 minutes, until golden brown. Let it rest for about 5 minutes & then slice to serve.
  • Enjoy!
