1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
2 apples
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sourdough starter (stiff, unfed)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Grease your bundt pan. Set aside.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F
  • Peel apples first. Then slice apples into 1/2 inch thick slices. Take the sliced apples and cut them into 1/4 inch cubes and set them aside.
  • Let the eggs, sour cream and butter all come to room temperature

1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup milk
1 cup sourdough starter
2 tablespoons white sugar, or more to taste
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 apple - peeled, cored, quartered, and thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Mix flour and milk together until milk is absorbed and flour is moist. Let sit for 20 minutes to allow gluten in the flour to develop.
  • Add sourdough starter, sugar, butter, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt to the flour mixture; stir well. Stir in apple slices.
  • Heat a lightly greased griddle over medium-high heat. Drop batter by large spoonfuls onto the griddle and cook until center is bubbling, about 3 minutes. Flip and cook until browned on the other side, 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.

8 ounces superfine sugar
8 ounces self-raising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons milk
5 ounces vanilla yogurt
10 ounces apricots, skinned, halved and stoned
8 ounces blueberries
1 ounce butter
3 tablespoons self-raising flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Line an oblong traybake tin (8 x 12in) with baking parchment and heat oven to 350°F
  • Beat the butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, eggs and milk together until creamy. Spoon into the tin, level the top, then bake for 25 mins until almost set.
  • Meanwhile, get the yogurt and fruit at the ready and make the crumble by rubbing all the ingredients together.
  • When cake has baked for 25 mins, whip it out of the oven. Working quickly, spoon over the yogurt, scatter over the fruit, then top with the crumble.
  • Return to oven for 15-20 mins until a skewer comes out clean.
  • Serve warm as a dessert, or cooled and cut into squares with tea.

2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1-1/2 cups Sourdough Starter
1-1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
ICING:
1 cup butter, softened
About 2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 egg yolk
Maple flavoring to taste
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • For cake, cream together shortening and sugar; beat in eggs. Stir in the starter, applesauce, cloves, cinnamon and allspice. Set aside. In a small bowl, blend salt, baking soda and sugar. Sprinkle over batter; stir in gently. Add flour; stir until smooth. Add nuts and raisins; stir well. Pour into two greased-and-floured 9-in. round baking pans. , Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely. , For icing, combine butter, sugar and egg yolk. Add flavoring; set aside. 1/4 cup evaporated skim milk
1 cup unbleached flour
1 cup applesauce (Homemade IfPos.)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon clove
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 large egg, Well Beaten

Steps:

  • Mix together the starter, milk, flour, and applesauce, and let stand in a covered bowl in a warm place.
  • Cream together the sugars and butter.
  • Add the beaten egg and mix well.
  • Add spices.
  • You may also add a half cup of raisins or chopped nuts, or a mixture of the two.
  • Beat by hand until well mixed and no lumps reamian.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for half to three quarters of an hour.
  • Test for doneness with a knife when half an hour is up.
  • Allow to cool until cold before cutting and serving.

1 cup sourdough starter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice
1 1/2 cups apples, peeled and diced
2 tablespoons softened butter
1/4 brown sugar
1/4 cup pecans, roughly chopped
1/3 cup oats
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to 375 F/180°C
  • Grease 9x9 pan.
  • CAKE. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and spice into a bowl, make a well in the centre add sourdough starter,vegetable oil,egg and honey. Mix till all ingredients are well combined. Dice the apples and fold through the cake batter. (I have used tinned apples successfully in this recipe). Pour into prepared pan.
  • TOPPING. Soften the butter slightly in the microwave, roughly chop the pecans. Mix all topping ingredients in a bowl till they form a crumb. Sprinkle evenly over the cake batter.
