- Place potatoes, carrots and celery in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a large skillet, brown meat in oil on all sides. Transfer meat to slow cooker., In the same skillet, saute onion in drippings until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Combine the flour, sugar, brown sugar, seasonings, orange zest and cocoa. Stir in tomato sauce; add to skillet and heat through. Pour over beef., Cover and cook on low until beef and vegetables are tender, 6-8 hours.

Steps:
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the roast into the hot oil and cook, turning frequently, until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and place in a slow cooker.
- Cook garlic and onions in the skillet in the meat drippings until tender. Stir in the salt and tomato sauce. Combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, chili powder, oregano, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and orange zest; stir into the tomato sauce. Pour the tomato sauce over the roast in the slow cooker. Add potatoes, carrots and celery. Cover, and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours, or until meat is tender. Garnish with sliced almonds before serving.

- In a medium bowl, whisk together the broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and garlic.
- Rub the beef all over with a little olive oil. In a large sauté pan, over medium high, brown the beef for about 2 minutes per side.
- In a 4-quart (or larger) slow cooker, place the browned beef, carrots, and onions. Pour ketchup mixture over the top. Cook on low for 8 hours.
- Slice or shred the meat and serve with the veggies and sauce, over mashed potatoes (optional.).

I found this on the all recipes site. This is a very easy recipe for a delicious pot roast. It makes its own gravy. It's designed especially for the working person who does not have time to cook all day, but it tastes like you did. You'll want the cut to be between 5 and 6 pounds.

- Place pot roast in slow cooker and coat with soup mixture.

- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Brown the roast on all sides, turning often. Place the roast in a 4 quart or larger slow cooker.
- Add the jalapenos, garlic and onions to the pan used to brown the roast and saute, stirring often, until the onions have begun to soften. Scrape up any browned bits from the roast while sauteeing. Add all the remaining ingredients, except the tomato sauce, and stir to combine. Add the tomato sauce, stir to combine and cook for a mintue. Pour the sauce onto the roast in the slow cooker. Rotate the roast to be coated on all sides with the sauce.
- Cover, cook on LOW setting for 8 hours. Remove the roast and allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Strain any fat from the sauce in the slow cooker and serve wtih the sliced roast.
