SAUSAGE PEPPERONI PIZZA DIP

This dip is like a deconstructed pizza, right down to the homemade pizza crust bites to enjoy it with.

12 ounces pizza dough
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
pinch salt
2 links Italian sausage, removed from casing
8 ounces cream cheese
3/4 cup pizza sauce
3/4 cup mozzarella cheese, divided
25 slices of pepperoni
1/2 medium red pepper, diced
1 teaspoon parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out pizza dough. Cut into 1-inch strips and arrange 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. In a small bowl, stir together olive oil, garlic and salt. Brush the dough with the garlic mixture. Bake for 12 minutes or according to package instructions. Cut into 1-inch squares with a knife or kitchen shears.
  • While pizza dough bites are baking: In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage 8-10 minutes, or until cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread cream cheese in an even layer. Top with pizza sauce in an even layer. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese. Top with pepperoni, sausage and red pepper. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 10-15 minutes. Upon removing from oven, sprinkle with parmesan and red pepper flakes.

Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza Dip is the perfect party appetizer to bring to any occasion, everyone loves pizza and as a dip it's even more fun to eat!

1 pound ground Italian Sausage
1 8 oz block cream cheese (at room temp)
1 4 oz bag mini pepperoni
1 14 oz jar pizza sauce
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
garlic powder, Italian seasoning
Fritos Scoops for dipping

Steps:

  • Add the ground Italian sausage to a skillet over medium heat. Cook 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks with a wooden spatula. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  • Spread the cream cheese evenly in the bottom of a casserole dish.Note: I had the best luck using the back of a metal spoon.
  • Add a third of the cooked Italian sausage, mini pepperoni, and cheese evenly over the cream cheese and spoon half of the pizza sauce over top. Sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Repeat and add another third of the cooked Italian sausage, mini pepperoni, and cheese and spoon the rest of the pizza sauce over top.
  • Top with the remaining cheese and add the rest of the sausage and pepperoni. Sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning over top.
  • Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Serve with Fritos Scoops.

1 lb ground Italian Sausage
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 cup diced tomatoes (drained)
1 cup pizza sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
15-20 pepperoni slices

Steps:

  • Brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, and be sure to drain the fat.
  • Once the sausage is fully cooked, remove from the heat, and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a medium bowl mix cream cheese, sour cream, Italian seasoning , Parmesan cheese and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese together.
  • In a 9 inch round baking pan layer in the following order: cream cheese on the bottom, sausage over it, diced tomatoes, pizza sauce, remaining mozzarella cheese, and pepperonis.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly.
  • Serve & enjoy with chips or crusty bread!

1/2 cup sour cream
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup pizza sauce
3/4 cup chopped green pepper
10 slices pepperoni, quartered
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
Toasted bread rounds or breadsticks

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Spread into an ungreased 9-in. pie plate or serving plate. Cover with pizza sauce; top with green pepper, pepperoni and onions., Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese Bake 5-8 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. 3/4 pound bulk Italian pork sausage
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (2 ounces), chopped
1/4 cup ketchup
1 jar (14 ounces) pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces)
Baguette-style French bread slices or assorted crackers, if desired

Steps:

  • Cook sausage and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until sausage is no longer pink; drain. Stir in pepperoni, ketchup and pizza sauce.
  • Spray 1 1/2- to 3-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Spoon sausage mixture into cooker. Stir in cheese.
  • Cover and cook on low heat setting 2 to 3 hours or until cheese is melted and mixture is hot.
  • Scrape down side of cooker with rubber spatula to help prevent edge of dip from scorching. Serve with bread or crackers. Dip will hold on low heat setting up to 2 hours. Stir occasionally.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4-1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 lbs hot Italian sausage, cut in 1 inche pieces
2 lbs sweet Italian sausage links, cut in 1 inch pieces
6 cups jarred pizza sauce (or your favorite recipe)
5 large eggs
3 cups ricotta cheese
3/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup chopped fresh basil leaf
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
6 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 lb pepperoni, thinly sliced
2 lbs prepared pizza crust

Steps:

  • Combine the oil and red pepper flakes in a small bowl; set aside.
  • In a large, heavy skillet, cook both sausages in batches over medium heat, stirring often, until browned--about 10-15 minutes.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer sausage to a large bowl; stir in the pizza sauce and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk 4 of the eggs until frothy; stir in the ricotta and Parmesan cheeses, basil, oregano, and pepper.
  • Spoon 1/2 the sausage mixture into a shallow 6-quart casserole dish; spoon small dollops of the ricotta mixture over the sauce.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 the mozzarella; arrange the pepperoni over the cheese.
  • Repeat with remaining sauce, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella.
  • Cover dish with foil and refrigerate for 1-2 hours (the flavors will blend well).
  • Preheat oven to 375*F.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out 3/4 of the dough about 1/4" thick; trim to the shape of the baking dish, but leave the dough 1" larger.
  • Place dough over the filling, turn edges under, and crimp.
  • Whisk the remaining egg with 1 tablespoons.

1 lb turkey sausage, ground
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small bell pepper, chopped
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
2 (6 1/2 ounce) packages pizza dough, mix (i.e. Betty Crocker)
2 -3 ounces sliced pepperoni
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can Italian stewed tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Cook sausage, onion, pepper, and garlic.
  • Prepare pizza dough (you'll need a cup of hot water) and press into greased 13 x 9 pan (3 qt.) baking dish. Pizza dough should go up about 1-2 inches on the sides on the baking dish.
  • Spread sausage on top of dough, followed by a layer of pepperoni.
  • Cover meats with the tomatoes and tomato sauce. Finish by spreading cheese over top of it all.
  • Bake at 425 for about 20 minutes.
