SALT SCRUB

Salt Scrub image

The primary purpose of a salt scrub is to exfoliate your skin. It also hydrates your skin because the salt is combined with oil and usually some aromatic like lemon, lavender, or even figs. The salt scrub is rinsed off and leaves your skin feeling very soft and fragrant.

Provided by hlkljgk

Categories     Bath/Beauty

Time 5m

Yield 1 1/4 cup, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1/2 cup jojoba oil (Sweet almond, grapeseed or rice bran oil are also good choices)
1 cup fine sea salt (You can also substitute sugar, which is gentler)
5 drops essential oils (The oil you choose for your body scrub depends on the result you want. Lavender is relaxing, lemongr)

Steps:

  • Combine the oil and salt in a bowl and mix well. Add essential oil and combine well.
  • To use, apply to dry skin using circular strokes to exfoliate the skin. Sit on the side of the tub to keep the scrub from making a mess. Don't use a salt scrub if you have any cuts in your skin.
  • Shower off or follow with a warm bath. Make sure you use a non-slip surface as the oil makes the tub slippery.

STRAWBERRY SALT SCRUB

Strawberry Salt Scrub image

Here is another salt scrub I created and like. I normally wait with posting it until the scrubs are about a month old to see how well they keep. This time it is only 3 days old but I post it now to be included in the strawberry recipe swap on Zaar. I will up-date it in a few weeks time. You can use different oil depending on skin-type and on how much you want to spend.

Provided by PetsRus

Categories     Bath/Beauty

Time 15m

Yield 1 jar scrub

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 -4 large fresh strawberries, pureed
1/2 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1/4 cup canola oil
3/4 cup fine salt
1/4 cup baking soda
strawberry fragrance oil (optional)

  • If you find it is too thin add some more salt.
  • Add fragrance if using.

  • Transfer to a container, preferbly plastic.
  • Use in bath or shower and make sure you are on a non-slip surface.

LAVENDER SEA SALT SCRUB

Lavender Sea Salt Scrub image

This is a wonderfully relaxing sea salt scrub because of the lavender scent. It is great for calming nerves, relieving stress and aiding in sleep. Almond Oil and Grapeseed Oil are light carrier oils that won't clog pores or leave your skin feeling too greasy, just smooth and moisturized. Most health food stores and some organic sections of major supermarkets carry these ingredients.

Provided by Just Call Me Martha

Categories     Bath/Beauty

Time 5m

Yield 5 scrubs

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup sea salt
1/3 cup sweet almond oil (or Grapeseed Oil or a mixture of both)
2 vitamin E, capsules
1 tablespoon dried lavender blossoms
8 drops lavender oil

Steps:

  • In small glass jar or container, place sea salt.
  • Add Almond Oil, starting with 1/4 cup or so and adding more until reaching desired consistency.
  • (When mixed well, it should be like a thick, oily paste.) Break open Vitamin E capsules and add the oil to salt mixture.
  • Add lavender flowers and lavender essential oil to salt and oil mixture.
  • Cover and let mixture sit for one hour.
  • Remove cover and check scent.
  • Add a few more drops of lavender essential oil if desired.
  • Apply to dry or damp skin, massaging in circular motion.
  • Especially nice for exfoiliating hands and feet and moisturizing dry skin.
  • Rinse with cool water in shower or bath.
  • NOTE: Keep scrub off cuts and scrapes, as the salt will sting.
  • Shower floor may become slippery as oil washes off, so be careful!
  • Enjoy.
