SALPICAO JALISCO

Salpicao Jalisco image

My favorite meal in the Philippines is Salpicao. I recently came up with this interpretation of the recipe, which immediately became the family favorite. Don't let the garlic frighten you: the taste becomes milder as it cooks. Throughout the cooking process, drink Sangria to produce a mellow chef. Serve with steamed rice.

Time 30m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 bulbs garlic, peeled and sliced
3 pounds beef sirloin or top round, cut into 3/4 inch cubes
salt and pepper to taste
1 dash hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry garlic until just beginning to turn golden; remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Add beef to the oil, and fry until browned on the outside. As the beef is browning, season generously with salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce. BEEF SALPICAO

Beef Salpicao image

Beef Salpicao with mushrooms is definitely one of the best way I love to cook beef! Tender, stir-fried cubed beef, seasoned perfectly. With a generous sprinkling of fried garlic, this beef recipe is a show stopper!

Provided by Mia

Categories     Appetizer     Main Course

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 11

500 grams beef tenderloin (cut in cubes)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 cloves garlic (sliced)
2 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp liquid seasoning (knorr seasoning)
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 cup canned small whole mushrooms (optional)
fried/toasted garlic (garnish - optional)
chopped spring onion (garnish - optional)

Steps:

  • Marinate beef with salt and pepper for 10-15 minutes in a bowl then set aside.
  • In a skillet or frying pan heat oil over medium heat. Tip in garlic and saute until fragrant and lightly browned. Remove garlic from pan and set aside.
  • Turn heat to high then add the beef. Sear the beef cubes for 3 - 4 minutes on all side by stirring. When beef is nicely seared add butter, liquid seasoning, and oyster sauce. Mix to evenly distribute ingredients.
  • Add the cooked garlic and mushrooms and let cook for another 5 minutes. Check the beef is tender and adjust the taste according to preference. Transfer in a serving dish and sprinkle with spring onion and fried garlic. Bon appetit!

BEEF SALPICAO

Beef Salpicao image

Tender chunks of rib eye steak cooked to perfection and flavored with a delicious seasoning sauce and then smothered in butter. All done in less than 10 minutes!

Provided by Manila Spoon

Categories     Main Course

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 oz rib eye steak (room temperature), (chopped into 1-inch cubes )
salt and pepper, (to taste)
1 tbsp soy sauce
½ tbsp oyster sauce
½ tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp oil
3 cloves garlic, (minced)
3 tbsp butter

Steps:

  • Lightly season the meat with salt and pepper. Set aside. Combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce and sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Heat the oil and minced garlic to medium. Cook the garlic until browned. Remove the garlic once browned. Set aside to use as garnish later. Add a little more oil to the pan, if needed. (I didn't have to because my pan is non-stick).
  • Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the beef cubes in one layer and sear on 1 side for about 1 minute. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes or until done to your liking. I like a little pink so I don't overcook the steak so it comes out tender.
  • Pour in the soy sauce and allow to boil briefly, about 10 seconds. Continue to stir-fry the beef to coat with the sauce. Add the butter. Continue to cook until the butter is melted, about a minute or less. Sprinkle half of the garlic. Remove the meat and its sauce to a serving plate. Top with the remaining garlic bits.Serve with Java Rice!
