ROSEMARY GIN FIZZ

3/4 cup sugar
4 rosemary sprigs
1/4 cup gin
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
About 1/4 cup seltzer
1 small rosemary sprig

Steps:

  • For the rosemary simple syrup: Combine the sugar, 3/4 cup water and the rosemary sprigs in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring and muddling the rosemary with a wooden spoon, until the sugar has completely dissolved, about 1 minute. Take off the heat and cool to room temperature. Strain into a small container. The syrup can be kept refrigerated in an airtight container up to 2 weeks.
  • For the rosemary gin fizz: Combine the gin, lemon juice, lime juice and 2 tablespoons simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Top off with the seltzer and garnish with the rosemary sprig.

This delightful drink blends the freshness of lemon with the herbaceous flavours of rosemary and gin to create a refreshing sipper. Be sure to keep Montellier® Sparkling Water, some of the rosemary simple syrup and frozen cranberries on hand to complete the holiday season. That way you'll always be ready to offer a refreshing sparkling beverage to friends and family.

1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
2 oz gin
2 oz rosemary simple syrup (or more, to taste)
2 oz limoncello
500 mL Montellier® Sparkling Water
Lemon slices
Frozen cranberries
Ice (optional)

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, heat water and sugar over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Increase the heat and add the rosemary. Bring to a boil.
  • Once the mixture has reached boiling, remove from the heat and allow rosemary to steep and cool to room temperature.
  • Once cool, you can use now or refrigerate overnight for more intense flavour.
  • In a cocktail shaker, shake gin, simple syrup and limoncello with plenty of ice.
  • Strain, pouring into glasses and add some of the ice to each glass.
  • Bring on the bubbles by topping your glass with crisp, refreshing Montellier® Sparkling Water.
  • Taste and adjust the amount of simple syrup to your taste.
  • Add a slice of lemon and frozen cranberries to serve.
  • Enjoy!

ROSEMARY CHAMPAGNE FIZZ

1/2 cup sugar
1 small bunch fresh rosemary, plus 4 sprigs for garnish
3 ounces gin
3 ounces fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice
Champagne or prosecco

Steps:

  • For the rosemary simple syrup: Add the sugar, 1/2 cup water and the rosemary to a small saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  • For the champagne fizz: Combine a tablespoon of rosemary simple syrup (more if you like it sweeter), the gin and grapefruit juice and stir. Pour into two cocktail glasses. Top each with champagne and garnish with a sprig of rosemary. Enjoy!

A refreshing summertime cocktail. Time does not include cooling time for syrup. I changed the amount of rosemary originally posted from 1/2 cup to 4 sprigs, which when chopped coarsely, equals about 1/2 cup, but I think others were chopping it too fine to fill the 1/2 cup, and that is why it was too strong. :)

4 sprigs fresh rosemary, coarsely chopped (stems and leaves)
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups water
2 ounces vodka or 2 ounces gin
2 slices lemons
soda water
1 sprig fresh rosemary

Steps:

  • To make syrup:.
  • Place all syrup ingredients into a saucepan and boil 30 minutes.
  • Strain and allow to cool completely before use.
  • Store in covered container in refrigerator.
  • To make cocktail:.
  • Place 1 ounce syrup with vodka (or gin) and lemon slices over ice in shaker. Shake well.
  • Strain into a rocks glass and add a splash of soda.
  • Garnish with rosemary sprig.
