Steps:
- Step 1First gather all of your measured out ingredients. The process is quick, so you must have all of your ingredients ready. Make sure your grease your pan first, so once you are finished mixing the ingredients you can pour warm mixture onto cookie sheet or pan. Step 2Start by melting your butter or margarine into a large pot on low heat. Allow to mostly melt down. Step 3 Melted marshmallow and butterAdd 1 10 oz bag of marshmallows to pot when butter is mostly melted. Mix the butter and marshmallows. Coat all of the marshmallows with the butter. Let the marshmallow melt slowly, but NOT completely. The melted marshmallow and butter should still have marshmallow lumps. (See Photo) Step 4When marshmallows are mostly melted, urn off stove and immediately add 7-8 cups of Rice Krispy cereal. (7 cups for really gooey treat squares). mix cereal into melted marshmallows. Mix from the bottom up, evenly coating the cereal with the marshmallows. Step 5 Quickly pour onto greased cookie sheet. Spread out the mixture onto the cookie sheet evenly. DO NOT PRESS DOWN. Pressing down the mixture will result in hard square treats. Step 6 Allow to cool for an hour before cutting squares. The squares will stay soft and gooey for several days. Store in greased tupperware for freshness. Step 7 Enjoy!
CLASSIC CRISPY RICE TREATS
Gooey marshmallows and crispy rice cereal come together in this recipe for the all-original favorite. We added a splash of vanilla extract and pinch of salt to give these sweet treats a palatable punch. Cut into squares, store between a few pieces of wax paper (to prevent any sticking) and enjoy for up to three days.

Steps:
- Line a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with aluminum foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang on each of the longer sides. Spray the foil lightly with cooking spray.
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and cook, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
- Working quickly, add the rice cereal to the pot and stir with a rubber spatula until evenly coated. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and press into an even, compact layer. (Spray your hands with a little cooking spray to keep them from sticking when pressing the cereal mixture into the pan). Decorate with toppings if using (see Cook's Note).
- Let sit at room temperature until firm, about 30 minutes. Cut into 24 squares. Store the cereal treats at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Steps:
- Place a small lump of margarine into a paper towel and use to grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan, then wipe the pan off with a dry paper towel. This will keep the bars from sticking to the pan when they are placed on it.
- Measure margarine into saucepan; melt over low heat. Add marshmallows and cook, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted and mixture is very syrupy. Remove from heat.
- Add Rice Krispies cereal; stir until well-coated.
- Spread warm mixture in the greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Using waxed paper or buttered spatula press firmly into an even layer. (I normally use a butter knife to do this; dipping the knife into a glass of water occasionally will keep the Rice Krispies from sticking to it as you shove them into the pan)
- Cut into squares when cool. (This is normally about 10 minutes after placing the mixture into the pan.)
- *Flavored marshmallows (usually the ones that are green, orange, etc.) may be used to change the taste of your Treats just enough that it will be noticeable.
- **For Christmas, consider using the red and green colored Rice Krispies that normally are sold around Christmas time, to give your bars that festive holiday appearance. :-).

" MAN" RICE KRISPIES TREATS
The man of the house loves Rice Crispie Treats, but he always complains that I don't make thick enough or enough of them. So I have increased the original recipe to an amount that actually lasts more than 1 day !!These are soft & chewy and will stay that way if you keep them tightly covered, like in Tupperware.

THE ORIGINAL RICE KRISPIES TREATS SQUARES
This is the recipe for the original rice krispies treats squares...It never fails! Plus, it is a great way to use up a box of cereal! For best results, use fresh marshmallows. I have replaced the butter once with Mott's Healthy Baking butter or oil substitute (it was basically an unsweetened apple sauce) and they still turned out great!
