Make your very own RICE KRISPIE Ornaments for a Christmas stocking treat or just set out for holiday desserts. Each RICE KRISPIE Ornament is decorated with a liquorice rope and topped with colored frosting making each ornament unique.

12 (6-inch lengths) string licorice
1 pkg. (10 oz.) JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows, divided
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
6 cups KELLOGG'S® RICE KRISPIES® cereal
1/2 cup M&M's® Brand Chocolate Candies
1/2 cup decorating gels or ready-to-spread frosting

Steps:

Fold each licorice piece in half; push ends through marshmallow, leaving about 1-inch loop at top.
Melt butter in large saucepan on low heat. Add remaining marshmallows; cook and stir until melted. Remove from heat. Add cereal; stir until evenly coated.
Use buttered hands to shape 1/2 cup warm cereal mixture into ball around ends of each licorice loop to resemble ornament. Cool slightly. Decorate with remaining ingredients; cool completely.

In a sauce pan over low heat melt 1 Tbsp. Butter and then add half of the Marshmallows. Stir frequently and add 10 drops of food coloring to start. Add additional food coloring until desired color is achieved.
Remove from heat and let cool until you can comfortably handle it. Oil or spray your hands so the mixture won’t stick. Make 3 inch balls rolling the mixture between your hands. Place on waxed paper.

Melt the butter over medium heat in a very large pot. Once melted, add the marshmallows. Stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted.
Remove from heat, then immediately stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Finally, fold in the cereal. Make sure each piece of cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Transfer mixture to prepared pan. Using a rubber spatula (greasing it lightly helps), gently spread mixture to fit the pan. Lightly grease the back of a flat spatula and very gently press the mixture down into the pan. Do not pack it down with force, just lightly press down so it’s secure in the pan.
