This is an ABSOLUTE MUST in our family...We can't have Christmas or Thanksgiving without this! The taste is truly awesome, and at every family gathering you would find countless brothers-in-law and their offspring "guarding the chip dip table" and in most cases "secretly hording" it for themselves! LOL! My sister, Shelly, has become "The Official Maker of The Dip" in our family, ever since Mom died...You can trust Shelly!!! Try this, you will not be sorry --- except if you don't make enough!

Ingredients

1 garlic clove
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 dash pepper
1 dash paprika
8 ounces minced clams, drained (but reserve liquid)
1/4 cup clam broth (reserved from the can)

Steps:

Peel and halve garlic clove, and rub on interior wall of serving bowl. (This seems like an unimportant step -- but my Mom used to swear that this one step made all the difference -- We don't question Jolean. You shouldn't either -- ). Mince the rest of the garlic clove to add to the other ingredients.
Leave cream cheese in bowl until it has reached room temperature. (Don't nuke it -- let it rest and thaw on it's own --) Then cream with a fork until smooth.
Gradually add remaining ingredients (except minced clams), blending well. (Use a hand mixer to get the lumps out, if any.).
Fold in minced clams last. Blend well --.
Chill for 1 hour, sprinkle paprika on top and serve with rippled potato chips.

6 1/2 ounces minced clams, drained -RESERVING 2 Tbsp of clam juice
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons parsley
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
salt, to taste, if desired

Steps:

In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with 2 Tbsp clam juice, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Stir in clams, garlic, parsley and pepper.
Serve immediately or chill.
Serve with veggies and/or crackers.

Clam dip has been served for decades in my family at every gathering since I can remember. If we are planning on getting together someone always will the favored appetizer along with a big bowl of chips and a platter of fresh cut vegetables for dipping. I believe that through several generations of my family's honest group clam dip critiques this recipe has reached a level of perfection that no other clam dip around can boast.

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon dill
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 1/2 cups clams
2 tablespoons clam juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

Steps:

In a medium size mixer bowl blend the cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and stir until well blended. Chill, garnish with fresh parsley and serve with your favorite ridged potato chip and a vegetable platter.
