We've perfected this 4-ingredient holiday side dish! After all, its just not Thanksgiving without the Candied Yams.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (40 oz.) can Bruce's Yams Cut Sweet Potatoes; drained and syrup reserved
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup white or brown sugar
2/3 cup syrup from can

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Place Bruce's Yams Cut Sweet Potatoes in a shallow baking dish; set aside.
  • Combine butter, sugar and syrup in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until thicken, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour sauce over sweet potatoes, and bake for 20-30 minutes. Sweet potatoes may be sprinkled with nutmeg and/or ground cinnamon before serving.

  • Place in preheated 350' oven for 30-35 minutes.

¼ cup butter, cut into pieces
½ cup brown sugar
1 ½ cups miniature marshmallows

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Place sweet potatoes in a medium baking dish. Distribute butter pieces evenly over the sweet potatoes. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Layer with miniature marshmallows.
  • Bake in the preheated oven 25 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender and marshmallows have melted.

Candied Yams are a classic side dish that is always welcomed during the holidays.

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 pounds ruby sweet potatoes (yams) (Ruby or garnet yams, peeled and cut into 2-inch chunks)
8 tbsp salted butter
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground clove
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 ½ cups orange juice
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract not imitation
1 tsp Salt

Steps:

  • Place the peeled and cut sweet potatoes in a large stock pot or dutch oven and cover with a couple inches of cold water.
  • Bring to a boil and add 1 tsp salt.
  • Boil for 5-10 minutes, or until you can pierce with a fork, but they aren't fully cooked or mushy.
  • Drain and set aside.
  • In a saute pan, add butter, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and ginger, as well as orange juice, brown sugar, and vanilla extract, and bring to a boil on high heat.
  • Once boiling, stir well, then add the sweet potatoes, stirring to coat with the sauce.
  • Continue to boil until the sauce reduces to a thick, syrup consistency (about 10 minutes)
  • Serve hot.

1 can(s) large can sugary yams
1 c chopped walnuts
3/4 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c marshmallows, mini ( or fluff if preferred)
1/2 c orange ( peel and all ) chopped fine

Steps:

  • 1. Beat yams first to get semi smooth texture in a large bowl.
  • 2. Blend all ingredients except marshmallows.
  • 3. Transfer the yams and ingredients to a baking dish.
  • 4. Top with marshmallows ( could substitute fluff if prefer )
  • 5. Bake at 275 degrees for 45 - 60 minutes until topping starts to brown and yams starts to bubble up.
