PORTUGUESE SANGRIA - AUTHENTIC SANGRIA FROM PORTUGAL

Portuguese Sangria - Authentic Sangria From Portugal image

This authentic sangria recipe from Portugal is a fresh and fruity twist on the classic red wine cocktail!

Provided by Ollie

Categories     Portuguese, Iberian, Drinks

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 bottle of dry red wine
½ apple -thinly sliced
1 small lemon - sliced
½ orange - sliced
Fresh mint
1 cinnamon stick
3tbsp sugar
30ml Licor Beirão (you can also use Vermouth or Cointreau)
60ml Macieira
7up
2 cups of ice cubes

Steps:

  • Place the fruit in a glass jar (with the minimum capacity of 1,5L) add the sugar and a couple of mint leaves. Use a muddler or a wooden spoon to lightly pound the fruit in order to release some of its juice without breaking down the fruit too much.
  • Add in the Licor Beirão, Macieira, red wine, and the cinnamon stick. Stir thoroughly to make sure the flavours combine. Pop the jar in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  • Add the ice and 7up to the sangria before serving, stirring well.
  • Serve and garnish with more fresh mint and fruit.

Rosé Sangria image

A lovely rosé sangria, this recipe pairs the pink wine with peaches, raspberries, and strawberries. It's ready to drink after just an hour in the fridge.

Provided by Colleen Graham

Categories     Beverage     Cocktail

Time 1h50m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 to 3 peaches
5 to 8 strawberries
1 cup raspberries
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, from 1 lemon
1/2 cup brandy
1 (750 mL) bottle dry rosé wine
2 cups club soda
Garnish: fresh mint

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Rinse the peaches under cold water. Cutting around and removing the pit, slice the peaches .
  • Rinse the strawberries, cut off the green tops (or hull the berries , if you prefer) and cut into slices.
  • In a large pitcher, add the sliced peaches and strawberries along with the rinsed raspberries . Sprinkle the sugar on top of the fruit and let macerate for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Squeeze the juice from one lemon into the pitcher, and add the brandy. Stir well to finish dissolving the sugar.
  • Pour a bottle of rosé wine into the pitcher. Stir well. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Just before serving, add the club soda and fill the pitcher with ice. Stir well.
  • Pour the sangria into glasses filled with ice, ensuring each glass gets plenty of fruit and adding more if needed. Garnish each with a sprig of mint. Serve and enjoy.

PORTUGUESE SANGRIA BLANCO

Portuguese Sangria Blanco image

I'm not a wine drinker, but I do enjoy sangria in the summer! This is a nice, light and refreshing white wine version and a great patio drink; be sure to serve some of the drunken little fruits with each glass! Prep time includes "sitting time" of sangria.

1 banana, sliced
sparkling water, to top off glasses
ice cube
