PMS Brownies aka "Gimme All the Sweet and Salty ASAP"! The name pretty much sums up this sweet dessert with bits of salty treats. A great flavor combination.

1 boxed brownie mix prepared according to package directions
chocolate frosting
chocolate candies chopped
pretzels chopped
peanuts chopped
potato chips chopped

Steps:

  • Prepare boxed brownie mix according to package directions.
  • Allow to completely cool.
  • Spread layer of frosting and top with chopped toppings.

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup cake flour (or 3/4 cup regular flour)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt (or other coarse salt)
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 tablespoons espresso beans, powder
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Spray a 8x8-inch pan with Pam (cooking spray) then line pan with aluminum foil and spray foil lined pan with Pam. Set aside.
  • Spread walnuts on a cookie sheet and toast until browned (5-8 minutes). Set aside.
  • In a small bowl sift together next 4 ingredients (flour - baking powder). Stir in espresso. Set aside.
  • In a double boiler (or an improvised one using a medium saucepan with simmering water and topped with another bowl or pan), over simmering water and low heat melt the butter and chocolate in the top pan (or bowl), stirring frequently until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
  • Whisk in eggs and vanilla and stir in flour mixture and nuts.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes or until crust forms on top and center is still a little gooey. Cool on a rack.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Cut into 1-inch squares.

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • butter an 8 inch square pan.
  • melt 4 oz butter on low heat and then stir in 2 oz unsweetened chocolate to melt.
  • Set aside.
  • Beat 2 eggs and add in 1 cup sugar.
  • Beat eggs/sugar for about 2 minutes, until the batter is very light.
  • Beat in the melted butter and chocolate.
  • Add flour and vanilla and mix just until blended.
  • Turn batter into pan.
  • Bake 25 minutes.
  • DO NOT OVERBAKE.
  • Let cool and cut into squares.

From a friends church cookbook that she let me drool over some of the pages. Some former coworkers had renamed this PMS brownies. My nephew in Florida made these for his friends and was a big splash down there too!

1 (18 ounce) box German chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup butter
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk, divided
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 lb caramel

Steps:

  • Grease 9 x 13 glass dish well.
  • Mix cake mix, butter and 1/2 of evaporated milk.
  • Pour 1/2 of cake mix into baking dish, mixture will be thick.
  • Bake cake at temperature on box for 18 minutes.
  • While cake is baking-- Peel paper from caramels.
  • In microwave bowl put other 1/2 of evaporated milk and caramels; melt on medium stirring after 30 seconds intervals till caramels are melted.
  • MIXTURE WILL BE VERY HOT CAREFUL!
  • Remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture over cake; spread chocolate chips over and then sprinkle pecans over chocolate.
  • Pour rest of batter over the filling and bake again 18 minutes.
  • Let cool before cutting into squares.

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut in pieces
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup sambuca romana
3/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup pine nuts, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Butter and flour an 8 inch square baking pan.
  • Combine butter and chocolate pieces in a microwave safe container (I use a Pyrex measuring cup).
  • Microwave on high for 45 seconds to one minute, depending on how powerful your microwave is.
  • Stir well.
  • Microwave again for 30 seconds.
  • Stir again.
  • Repeat process as needed until chocolate is thoroughly melted and combined with butter. If you stir thoroughly each time, the chocolate will continue to melt. Total micro time shouldn't be more than a few minutes, you don't want to overcook the chocolate.
  • Cool to room temperature.
  • Beat eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until thickened and pale.
  • Beat in chocolate mixture and Sambuca.
  • Combine dry ingredients except for pine nuts in a small bowl.
  • Add to batter and beat until just blended.
  • Spread batter in prepared pan.
  • Sprinkle evenly with the pine nuts.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out with crumbs just barely sticking to it.
  • Cool and cut into 16 squares.
