- Move the burgers to the cooler side of the grill (or reduce the heat on the stove) and top each with some marinara sauce and 2 slices cheese. Spread the cut sides of each roll with some of the garlic butter and place facedown on the grill. Cover and cook until the cheese melts and the buns are toasted, 1 to 2 minutes. Place a burger on each roll bottom; add some chopped basil and the roll top. Serve with more marinara sauce, if desired.
PIZZA BURGERS
A great old school lunch favorite we all just love around our house. If your afraid of using luncheon meat just replace with more hamburger or small cubed pepperoni. Great all ways!

PIZZA BURGERS
Easy recipe for feeding a crowd. Meat mixture can be prepared ahead and refrigerated til party time. The first time I made it was 35 years ago for a Halloween party and the teenagers loved them. I have never seen a pizza burger recipe like this so I am sharing this for you busy moms & dads.

Steps:
- Brown hamburger.
- Drain.
- Place in bowl and add spices.
- Cool in fridge til cold.
- Remove from fridge and knead in the cold pizza cheeze adding tomatoe paste til it holds its shape.
- The mixture should be firm. Refrigerate until ready to make up.
- For pizzas, spread hamburger bun halves on cookie sheets and using an ice cream scoop top the buns with the pizza mixture.
- I spread the mixture with a spatula to the edge of the bun. The mixture should be about 1 to 2" thick; your preference.
- I have doubled and tripled the recipe for partys. We like a 2" mound of meat and cheeze on ours. If you follow the recipe using tomatoe PASTE the pizzas will rise and puff up, brown nicely, but not spill out over the bun; they really hold their shape and present well.
- Bake at 350 til cheese browns; about 10 minutes.
PIZZA BURGERS
These are a good hearty burger, kind of like a pizza sloppy joe. Delicious and easy to do! I usually cut back a little on the garlic salt, you can do what you like. You can make these ahead, and just pop them in the oven when ready.

From the Food section of the Kansas City Star (though they say they adapted it from Woman's Day magazine.) It would make 8 patties, but 7 fit in my cast-iron skillet.
