Recipe video above. Beef tacos - the old school way! A juicy beef filling stuffed in crispy taco shells. For the real old school experience, go with shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato and sour cream! I like to BAKE my shells with the taco meat and cheese for molten goodness, but this is optional. If you skip it, just bake the empty shells per packet directions. SCALE UP the seasonings and add vegetables to make the filling stretch further!

10 to 12 crispy taco shells (("stand and stuff) OR soft tortillas of choice (Note 1))
1 tbsp oil
2 garlic cloves (, minced)
1 onion (, finely chopped)
500 g / 1 lb beef (, ground / mince (Note 2))
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/4 cup / 65ml water
1 tsp EACH garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano
2 tsp EACH cumin powder, paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper ((adjust spiciness to taste, can skip))
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Shredded cheese ((Note 3))
Shredded iceberg lettuce
2 tomatoes (, chopped)
1/2 red or white onion (, chopped)
Sour cream
Taco sauce ((optional))
Other: coriander/cilantro (, jalapeño, hot sauce / chilli sauce, pickled chillies, salsa sauce, pico de gallo)

Steps:

Preheat oven to 180C/350F.

Oven Baked Beef Tacos are an easy weeknight meal with none of the mess you can make ahead with ground beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons taco seasoning (or 1 packet)
1/2 cup water
10 taco shells
1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 vine tomato (diced)
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Add your ground beef to a large skillet on medium high heat and cook until no longer pink, breaking it apart (about 5-6 minutes).
Whisk taco seasoning and water together and add to your pan, letting the liquid cook until mostly reduced, another 2-3 minutes.
Place the taco shells into a baking dish standing them up against each other.
Spoon the beef into the taco shells then add the cheddar cheese and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove from the oven and top with lettuce, tomato and sour cream before serving.

2 lbs ground beef, lean
3 tablespoons taco seasoning
6 ounces tomato sauce
20 1/2 ounces refried beans
shredded cheddar cheese
12 small flour tortillas
diced tomato
diced onion
sour cream
salsa
shredded lettuce

Steps:

Brown ground beef and drain.
Add taco seasoning, refried beans and tomato sauce.
Heat until blended.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Spray a glass 9x13 pan with oil.
Spoon taco filling into taco shells and stack them side by side in pan.
When shells are filled, top each with shredded cheese.
Bake for approximately 15 minutes, watching so they do not brown too much.
Top with remaining ingredients, if desired.

1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 envelope taco seasoning
2 cans (10 ounces each) diced tomatoes and green chiles, divided
1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend, divided
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, optional
12 taco shells
Chopped green onions

Steps:

Preheat oven to 425°. In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Stir in taco seasoning and 1 can of undrained tomatoes; heat through., Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix beans, 1/2 cup cheese, cilantro, remaining can of undrained tomatoes and, if desired, pepper sauce. Spread onto bottom of a greased 13x9-in. baking dish., Stand taco shells upright over bean mixture. Fill each with 1 tablespoon cheese and about 1/3 cup beef mixture. Bake, covered, 15 minutes., Uncover; sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted and shells are lightly browned. Sprinkle with green onions.
