This recipe is from Cooking With 4 Ingredients by Jean Coates, c. 2002. This recipe couldn't be simpler, but it is so good. Top cake with Frosting for Oreo Cake (below) or with your own favorite frosting. Yummy.

1 (18 ounce) package white cake mix
1/2 cup oil
1 1/4 cups water
4 egg whites
1 1/4 cups Oreo cookies, coarsely chopped
4 1/4 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup shortening (not butter flavored)
1 teaspoon almond flavoring

Steps:

  • In a mixer bowl combine cake mix, oil, 1-1/4 cup water and egg whites. Blend on low speed until moistened. Then beat two minutes at high speed.
  • Gently fold in coarsely chopped cookies. Pour batter into two greased and floured 8-inch round cake pans.
  • Bake at 350*F for 24-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Cool for 15 minutes; then remove from pans. Let cool completely and frost.
  • FROSTING: With mixer combine all ingredients. Beat together until creamy. Ice the first layer of cake and place second layer on top; ice top and sides. Sprinkle with extra crushed Oreo cookies on top, if desired.

if you are a lover of white cake and vanilla frosting you will love this! this makes a wonderful cake for a kid's birthday party, stick whole mini Oreo cookies on top instead of the crushed :)

1 (18 1/4 ounce) package white cake mix
1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 egg whites
12 coarsely crushed Oreo cookies (crush additional cookies to sprinkle on top of the cake)
4 cups confectioners' sugar (may need more)
1/2 cup white shortening (if you don't mind a little yellow coloring you may use butter or half of each)
1/4 cup half-and-half cream or 1/4 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350°F.
  • Set oven rack to second-lowest position.
  • Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl combine cake mix with water, oil and egg whites.
  • Using an electric mixer on medium speed beat until smooth and well combined (mixture will resemble thick marshmallow fluff).
  • Fold in the crushed Oreo cookies.
  • Spread into prepared pan.
  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until cakes tests done,.
  • Cool completely.
  • For the frosting; in a bowl using an electric mixer beat all frosting ingredients until light and fluffy (you may need to adjust either the cream or sugar until desired consistency is achieved).
  • Spread onto the top of the cooled cake.
  • Sprinkle chopped Oreos onto top of the frosting (use as many as desired for the top).
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve (store any leftover cake in the refrigerator).

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
3 -4 cups confectioners' sugar (measure then shake thru a sieve to break lumps)
12 Oreo cookies, finely chopped
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Beat softened butter and cream cheese with electric mixer until fluffy, about 3 - 5 minutes.
  • Slowly add sugar, 1 cup at a time. Add vanilla; mix until smooth. Gently stir Oreos into the frosting, careful to not over stir.
