1 quart vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup powdered orange drink
12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, in chunks

Steps:

With a small ice cream scoop or melon baller, scoop balls of vanilla ice cream onto a cold cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Place in the freezer to reset the ice cream balls to firm.
Put the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and microwave at medium until liquid, about 1 1/2 minutes. Stop and stir every 30 seconds until melted, be careful not to burn it.
Spread the orange drink powder onto a large plate. Roll the ice cream balls in the powder and return them to the cookie sheet. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the ice cream balls. Return to the freezer until ready to serve.

Ingredients

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 lb butter, at room temperature
2 cups sugar
8 large eggs
1/3 cup milk (whole milk for best results)
1/3 cup Bourbon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Fold in half the flour, then fold in the milk, then the remaining flour, followed by the bourbon and vanilla.
Pour the batter into two lightly greased and floured 9-inch loaf pans and run the blade of a knife through the batter in an X pattern from corner to corner of the pans to eliminate air bubbles.
Place the pans in the center of a cool oven, leaving a space between them.
Turn the oven to 325F and bake for about 1 hour, until a wooden skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Turn off the oven and let the cakes cool in the oven for 10 minutes.
Open the oven door and cool for 30 minutes.
Turn the cakes out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

useful as a filling, a frosting, or a glaze. once refrigerated its the consistancy of peanut butter, it can be whipped also. it should be noted that adjusting the amount of chocolate to cream will produce a firmer, or softer ganache. if you dont like orange, leave it out or experiment with other flavours.

12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (or 12oz bitter sweet chocolate)
1 1/3 cups heavy cream (roughly 10.6oz)
1 tablespoon orange zest (finely ground, about one whole orange)
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

Zest orange with a microplane, add to heavy cream and place it into the sauce pan.
Heat the cream in a sauce pan over medium heat stirring constantly untill it comes to a boil. take off heat.
add hot cream to chocolate in a medium bowl, stirring untill all chocolate has melted, add butter at once, and stir untill melted.
chill untill thickened to spread on cakes, brownies, or cupcakes. pour over cakes or dip cupcakes while still liquid. chill untill firm.
