BEST PIZZA SAUCE RECIPE (NO COOK, AUTHENTIC ITALIAN STYLE)

Best Pizza Sauce Recipe (No Cook, Authentic Italian Style) image

The best and easiest Italian pizza sauce recipe.

Provided by Christina Conte

Categories     Dressings, Sauces, Syrups & Toppings

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 6

14 oz (400g) can of European tomatoes (preferably pomodoro pelato S.Marzano dell'Agro Sarnese-Nocerino D.O.P) THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT-do not use inferior quality tomatoes
3 Tbsp good quality extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp sea salt
a few pinches of dried oregano
2 or 3 leaves of fresh Italian basil, torn into small pieces
(optional: a clove of fresh garlic, minced) my Italian family uses garlic, but it's only used on one type of pizza in Naples

Steps:

  • Pour the can of tomatoes into a bowl. If it is pomodorini or whole tomatoes, crush them with your hands, or you can roughly cut them with kitchen shears.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Taste for salt and add if needed. (Don't add a lot of sauce to the pizza dough; you don't want to drown it.)

THE BEST HOMEMADE CHICAGO PIZZA SAUCE EVER!

The Best Homemade Chicago Pizza Sauce Ever! image

Being from Chicago, I've tasted a lot of different pizza sauces. (Pizza capital of the world!) Everyone that's had my pizza says they love my sauce. Try it once. You'll be hooked!! The best thing about this sauce is that you don't have to cook it!

Provided by rothiii

Categories     Sauces

Time 2m

Yield 2 Large or One deep dish, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (32 ounce) can tomato puree (I like Walmart's or Contadina)
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon marjoram
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon pepper
salt (To taste)
1 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Stir all well. I use a whisk. Let sit for "a couple-two-tree" hours. What could be easier? You can use this for pasta sauce too with some meatballs and sausage. I put the raw meat in and gently simmer it for an hour or so. It gives the sauce a hearty flavor. You gotta try this one!

OLD SCHOOL ITALIAN GRAVY

Old School Italian Gravy image

Rich and delicious, this Old School Italian Gravy is a perfectly crafted sauce that is simmered all day and is great for any Italian dish!

Provided by Amanda

Categories     Main Course     Side Dish

Time 1h40m

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 medium beef marrow bone (neck, knuckle or ribs bones)
1/2 large yellow onion (chopped)
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
2 Tablespoons dried basil
2 Tablespoons dried parsley
2 Tablespoons dried oregano
6 ounces tomato paste
1 1/2 cups dry red wine (approximately 1/2 of a bottle)
2 quarts beef broth
2 28 ounce cans San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes
2 28 ounce cans crushed tomatoes
2 28 ounce cans tomato puree
salt and pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Heat a large stock pot over medium high heat and add in the olive oil. Once the the olive oil begins to shimmer, add in the beef bone and cook till browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  • Add in the chopped onion and saute for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions become translucent and start to brown.
  • Next, add in the garlic, herbs and tomato paste and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes while stirring.
  • Deglaze the pot by pouring in the red wine and scraping the bottom of the pot to remove any bits stuck to it.
  • Add in the beef broth as well as all of the tomatoes (whole, crushed and puree) and stir to thoroughly combine. Reduce heat to medium low.
  • Continue to simmer the sauce for a minimum of 1 hour, but 4-6 hours is preferred. Make sure to stir the sauce every 30 minutes or so to make sure everything is combined and nothing burns.
  • Once the sauce has been cooked down, remove the beef bone and season with salt and pepper, if needed. The sauce can then be used immediately or cooled completely to be frozen or canned. For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender to blend to the desired consistency.

ITALIAN PIZZA TOPPINGS: WHICH ARE THE BEST ONES? | SO ...

From sodelicious.recipes
Estimated Reading Time 4 mins
  • Pizza Margherita. This is definitely the fundamental pizza template and you should have it at least once. So what are the toppings? Tomato sauce, fresh buffalo mozzarella that you have to cut into rounds, and a few fresh basil leaves.
  • Prosciutto e Funghi. The title basically translates as "prosciutto and mushrooms", so guess what the toppings are for this one? You can use a mix of mushrooms and also ham to make this happen.
  • Quattro fromaggi. This one is also easily understood once translated: who doesn't love a good four cheese dish? Especially if the cheese is melty and you can feel every flavor.
  • Prosciutto crudo e rucola. The basis for this is a margherita, so add the tomato sauce and slices of mozzarella, but it has the added and granted carnivorous benefit of also delighting you with prosciutto slices and some healthy arugula on top.
  • Pizza Marinara. A great vegan alternative, Pizza marinara is the one for you if you're a huge fan of garlic. I know I am! And the recipe is quite simple!
