NUTTY APPLE BUTTER
Being a New England native, I love apple-picking season. Grab some apples and peanut butter to make your own creamy riff on a PB&J. Of course it's great on a sandwich, but you can dunk sliced fruit or graham crackers in it, too. -Brandie Cranshaw, Rapid City, South Dakota

- In a greased 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the first 7 ingredients. Cook, covered, on low 8-10 hours or until apples are tender., Whisk in peanut butter until apple mixture is smooth. Cool to room temperature. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

NUTTY APPLE SANDWICH
This quick & easy sandwich recipe comes from a label on a jar of apple butter. Sometimes that's where you can find the yummiest recipes! This is so tasty and fun--great for kids and grandparents alike!

Steps:
- Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apple.
- Coat apple slices with lemon juice; set aside. If you don't have lemon juice, coat in cold salty water.
- In a medium bowl, mix grated apple, cream cheese, apple butter, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Spread the mixture on 3 pieces of the wheat toast and top with apple slices (and banana if using).
- Spread peanut butter on remaining 3 pieces of wheat toast. Combine one piece of each toast to create a sandwich. Cut in half and serve.

- In a 6-qt. electric pressure cooker, combine the first 7 ingredients. Lock lid; close pressure-release valve. Adjust to pressure-cook on high for 3 minutes. Let pressure release naturally for 5 minutes; quick-release any remaining pressure, Mash apples with a potato masher or use an immersion blender until blended. Whisk in peanut butter until apple mixture is smooth. Cool to room temperature. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator.
