Here's what you need: large cucumber, mint leaf, green apple, honey, avocado, ice

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 large cucumber, peeled and sliced
¼ cup mint leaf
1 green apple, diced
1 tablespoon honey
½ avocado, diced
1 ½ cups ice

Steps:

  • Place the cucumber, mint, apple, honey, and avocado in a blender or food processor and blend until just combined.
  • Add in the ice and continue to blend until the mixture is smooth.
  • Serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!

200 g Baby Spinach
5 fresh mint leaves
2 bananas
1 cup rice milk
1 teaspoon organic honey
3 tablespoons Greek yogurt

Steps:

  • Blend bananas, rice milk, yoghurt and honey until all are well mixed. Add the spinach and mint leaves and blend until smooth. Adjust with more or less rice milk depending on how thick you would like the smoothie to be.
  • Decorate with a few extra mint leaves on top and break a pecan nut into small pieces, sprinkling it over for added flavour!

I got this recipe from another sweet older woman. I make this in the morning for breakfast and it fills you up so well that you can skip lunch! You will need a blender. I have chosen to use all organic ingredients, but it is not neccessary.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup organic soymilk (warmed) or 1 cup organic almond milk (warmed)
1/2 cup organic soymilk (cold) or 1 cup organic almond milk (cold)
1/4 cup organic rolled oats
2 tablespoons organic flax seeds
2 tablespoons organic whole wheat couscous
1 organic banana (peeled and cut up)
1 organic small apple (peeled and cut up)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon nutmeg (grated)

Steps:

  • warm 1 cup of milk on top of the stove.
  • place the warm milk into the blender.
  • add the vanilla.
  • add the rolled oats.
  • add the flax seed.
  • add the couscous.
  • cut up and add the peeled banana.
  • cut up and add the peeled apple.
  • grate and add the nutmeg.
  • blend at a low speed at first, then increase the speed until well blended.
  • add the cold milk.
  • blend on high again.
  • pour and serve.

My kids and I have this for breakfast often. We call it our "green drink" and they get so excited when I make it! It's the only way they'll eat spinach. This is a silky smooth, very healthy, energizing drink! (You've got to be a little adventurous though; some people just can't get past the idea of a smoothie being green!)

1 cup fresh baby spinach leaves, washed
1 ripe mango
1/4-1/2 cup orange juice

Steps:

  • Peel and slice mango. Combine with spinach and orange juice in VitaMix blender on high for 1 minute. Enjoy your "green drink!".
  • NOTES: For a thick smoothie, use 1/4 cup orange juice. To thin, just add a little more to get the consistency you like. Also, you do need to use a ripe mango. A not-quite-ripe firm one will not yield a very smooth smoothie!
