Merills Tuna Casserole With Crescent Roll Crust Food

A friend shared the recipe with me, and I've prepared it monthly ever since. The crust is made from refrigerated crescent roll dough. While the ground beef is browning, I simply press the dough into a baking dish. Guest always comment on the tasty crust as well as the zesty filling and crunchy topping.-Patricia Eckard, Singers Glen, Virginia

Ingredients

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
2 cups crushed corn chips, divided
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Optional: cubed avocado, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce and cilantro

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350°. Unroll crescent dough into a rectangle; press onto the bottom and 1 in. up the sides of a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Seal seams and perforations. Sprinkle with 1 cup of chips; set aside., In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and taco seasoning; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Spoon over chips. Top with sour cream, cheese and remaining chips. , Bake, uncovered, until crust is lightly browned, 25-30 minutes. Garnish with optional toppings, if desired.

I was an "I hate hot tuna" person before I ate this! My SIL made this for my bridal shower and it was tasty and pretty with a lattice pattern over the tuna. No soup or mushrooms in this recipe.

Ingredients

3 (6 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained
3 tablespoons mayonnaise, adjust according to taste
1 cup frozen peas
1 cup carrot, shredded
12 ounces Good Seasonings Italian salad dressing mix, approx. 1 1/2 packets
1 (8 ounce) package sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 (8 ounce) cans Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls

Steps:

Mix all ingredients except crescent roll dough.
Open 1 can of the crescent rolls on waxed paper and roll dough to cover bottom on a baking dish for the lower crust.
Add tuna mixture onto the crust evenly.
Roll out the other can of dough (won't use all) and make 1/2 inch strips to form a lattice pattern on top of the tuna like a pie.
Set the strips over the top in a diagonal manner.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or until crust is golden and puffed.

2 (6 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained well
1 small onion, diced
1 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
1 cup frozen vegetables, thawed and drained
2 eggs
8 ounces crescent rolls

Steps:

Mix all ingredients except crescent sheets. Spray non-stick spray into a line 8x8 baking pan with one crescent roll sheet. Layer tuna mixture onto the first sheet of crescent roll sheet. Top with second crescent sheet, you can press the sheet together so it will look like one continuous sheet. bake at 350 degrees until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Top this with a cheese sauce or grated Parmesan cheese.

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1-1/2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Steps:

Preheat oven to 375°. Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. On an ungreased 12-in. pizza pan, arrange triangles in a ring with points toward the outside and wide ends overlapping. Press overlapping dough to seal., In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Spoon across wide end of triangles. Fold pointed end of triangles over filling, tucking points under to form a ring (filling will be visible)., Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and heated through.
