MARYLAND HOT CRAB DIP RECIPE
Steps:
- In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, and garlic salt until smooth.
- Stir in 2 tbsp of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Fold crab meat into the mixture.
- Pour mixture into a 1 quart casserole dish.
- Top with remaining cheese, or more. But not too much because you don't want the cheese to overtake the taste of the crab.
- Sprinkle Old Bay Seasoning on top of the crab dip sparingly.
- Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 30 minutes or until the top is browned.
- Serve with crackers, toasted bread, celery sticks, or parmesan crisps. And of course keep the Old Bay Seasoning handy for extra shakes!

SPICY CRAB DIP
This style of crab dip, often referred to as Maryland crab dip because of its Chesapeake Bay origins, makes for a festive appetizer. Here, it's served hot out of the oven and is extra creamy thanks to the combination of cream cheese and a little mayonnaise. Though crabs are plentiful this time of year - and you can certainly make this with freshly steamed and picked meat if you'd like - canned lump crabmeat makes this dish simple to assemble. Just be careful to leave the clumps of meat as intact as possible when mixing. A sprinkle of cayenne pepper and a generous douse of hot sauce add heat to this flavorful dish.

- 1) Combine all of the ingredients except for the crab meat and scallions/chives. You can choose to combine the ingredients by melting them together in an oven-safe pan on the stovetop. Slowly combine your dairy and seasoning on the lowest heat. Working with melted cheese will be slightly easier, but the end product will be relatively the same as if you were to just mix everything in a large bowl before transferring to a baking dish. So, you can just mix the ingredients at room temperature in a big bowl with a wooden spoon. It’s up to you!
- 2) Once your dairy and other ingredients are combined, add in your lump crab meat reserving some to top the crab dip later. Be sure to gently mix the crab in with the other ingredients to prevent it from breaking up too much. We want to have nice chunks of crab in every bite.
- 4) Place the dip in the oven at 375 degrees for 15- 20 minutes. If you pre-melted the ingredients on the stovetop you will need less time. If your ingredients are still cold when you pop them in the oven, it will be closer to the 20-minute mark. Remember that the crab meat is precooked. You are just looking to melt the cheese and let the ingredients combine to form an amazing dip.
