4 firm bananas, peeled and halved lengthwise
¼ cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 (1 inch) piece fresh ginger, grated
1 ½ teaspoons ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Arrange banana halves in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle maple syrup over bananas and top with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until heated through, 10 to 15 minutes.

4 bananas, sliced
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon real maple syrup
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Place sliced bananas in a small casserole dish.
  • Combine butter, syrup, and lemon juice and drizzle over bananas.
  • Bake uncovered at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place coconut and pecans on a cookie sheet with sides and toast in oven till light brown.
  • Sprinkle coconut and pecans over bananas.
  • Serve in dessert dishes or over ice cream.

2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
4 medium bananas, halved crosswise and lengthwise
2 tablespoons sweetened flaked coconut
vanilla frozen yogurt

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place butter in 9 x 9 x 2-inch-square baking pan. Place in oven to melt.
  • Remove pan from oven; leave oven on. Stir in maple syrup, brown sugar, lime juice and allspice. Arrange bananas, cut side up, in pan. Sprinkle with coconut.
  • Bake in heated 375 degrees oven from 12 minutes, turning bananas over after 6 minutes and basting with liquid in pan.
  • Place bananas in dessert bowls. Top with frozen yogurt. Spoon sauce from baking pan over bananas and yogurt.

I remember this being served as dessert for a dinner party in Scotland. It is so darn yummy! The flambe also is a magnificent presentation!

4 peeled bananas
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/3 c maple syrup
1 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp dark rum, optional
ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Cut bananas in 1 1/2" thick pieces and place in single layer in buttered 4 c baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Pour syrup over and dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees 20 min, turning 2-3 times.
  • 2. To flambe: just before serving, warm rum and ignite. Pour over bananas.

2 tablespoons maple syrup (real maple syrup preferred)
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
4 bananas, halved lengthwise,and crosswise
2 tablespoons sweetened flaked coconut
vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Butter a 9x9x2-inch square baking pan, and place in the oven to melt; remove.
  • Stir the maple syrup, brown sugar, lime juice, and allspice into the pan, mixing well.
  • Place the bananas on top of this, cut side up, and sprinkle with coconut.
  • Bate at 375 for 12 minutes, turning bananas over after 6 minutes and basting them with maple sauce.
  • To serve, place bananas in a bowl, top with some ice cream, and spoon some maple sauce over the top.

Use up your bananas and transform them into our boozy baked caramelised dessert with the help of rum, maple syrup and pecans

6 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced in half lengthways
2 tbsp dark brown soft sugar
2 tbsp maple syrup
3-4 tbsp rum or whisky
40g pecans, toasted and chopped
vanilla or salted caramel ice cream, to serve

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 8. Toss the banana halves in an ovenproof dish with the sugar, maple syrup and rum or whisky. Sprinkle with a small pinch of salt, if you like.
  • Bake for 15 mins, then remove from the oven. Heat the grill to high and grill the bananas for 3-5 mins, or until bubbling and caramelised. Spoon the bananas into bowls and scatter over the pecans. Serve with ice cream, and any of the caramelised syrup from the dish drizzled over the top.

2 ripe bananas
1 teaspoon unsalted butter
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup (may use brown sugar in a pinch)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Cut bananas in half crosswise then lengthwise.
  • Melt the butter over medium-high heat in a large skillet and place the bananas in the butter, coating them using a pastry brush.
  • Move the bananas to one side of the pan.
  • Slightly tip the pan (with bananas on upper side), then add the maple syrup (or brown sugar), vanilla and lemon juice.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon and give the mixture a good stir.
  • Lower the pan and blend the sauce with the bananas, spooning the sauce over the top.
  • Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Arrange 4 banana pieces on each dessert plate.
  • Garnish each dish with mint sprig, and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or any flavor ice cream of your choice.

1 -2 teaspoon margarine, cut into small pieces

Steps:

  • Line a bread pan with foil, overlapping the pan a little.
  • Peel banana & slice lengthwise.

  • Spread syrup over the banana.
