Easy Homemade Chili image

Easy homemade chili. Goes great with cornbread or over corn chips for a chili pie! I like to use spicy pinto beans.

1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans
1 ½ cups water
1 pinch chili powder
1 pinch garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the beef and onion and saute until meat is browned and onion is tender. Add the stewed tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, beans and water.
  • Season with the chili powder, garlic powder, salt and ground black pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.

1 large onion, chopped
1 (15 ounce) can ranch-style beans
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
1 (1.25 ounce) package chili seasoning mix
salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons chili powder, or to taste
1 cup water, or as needed

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, cook beef and onion until meat is brown. Stir in beans, diced tomatoes, chili seasoning, salt, pepper, chili powder and water. Reduce heat and simmer 2 hours.

1 pound ground beef
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, undrained
2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, undrained
2 (14.5 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes, undrained
2 green bell peppers, cut into 1/2-inch dice
1 yellow onion, cut into 1/2-inch dice
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 (1.25 ounce) package chili seasoning mix, or to taste
1 dash hot sauce, or to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Cook and stir ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until crumbly and browned, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain.
  • Stir drained ground beef, black beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, green bell peppers, yellow onion, garlic, and chili seasoning together in a large pot over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are slightly tender and chili is heated through, 15 to 20 minutes. Season with hot sauce, salt, and ground black pepper to taste.

2 (15 ounce) cans red kidney beans
4 stalks celery, sliced
1/2 medium onion
2 (14 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon bay leaf
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Saute celery and onions in olive oil. Dump everything in crock pot and cook on low all day or on high for 3-4 hours. Serve & enjoy!

I used Mom's chili recipe and added a few things of my own over the years. I put it together in the crock pot the night before, throw it in the fridge (just the crock), then before leaving for work the next morning I put the crock in the base, plug it in and it's yummy when I get home.

1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
1/4 green pepper, diced
1/2 cup salsa
1 (20 ounce) can tomato sauce (large)
2 (10 ounce) cans chili beans
1 (10 ounce) can tomato soup
2 tablespoons chili powder

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef and drain.
  • Put all ingredients in crock pot and stir well.
  • Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or high for 4 to 6 hours. I also like to take the lid off the crock pot the last hour or two (when I'm home) to allow some of the water to burn off.

MAMA'S SIMPLE AND EASY CHILI

This is a good and simple chili. Since I am seasoning challenged sometimes, I use McCormick packs with this, but it still turns out fantastic. I have to double the recipe in order for there to be leftovers the next day. Its also pretty cheap to make which helps with ever shrinking budgets. It does have a little bit of a kick to it, but its not real overwhelming, my 4 year old daughter ate it with no problem. I serve it with cornbread...yummy! Serving size is a guess. One pot will feed 6 of us, 2 of the 6 being teenage boys.

2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 (12 ounce) cans chili beans (intensity is your choice, I use mild)
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans (color is your choice)
1 lb ground beef or 1 lb turkey, or
1 lb ground beef and 1 lbs Italian sausage
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package McCormick mild chili seasoning
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package chili seasoning mix, mccormick tex mex
1/2-3/4 cup salsa (your choice on brand and flavor)
1 (8 ounce) can green chilies (for extra kick) (optional)
1/2-1 cup water

Steps:

  • Combine sauce, beans and chilies if you are using them in large pot and set to cook on med/low. DO NOT DRAIN THE JUICES OFF OF THEM! Put it all in there.
  • Brown ground beef and drain almost all of the grease off.leave about 1 tsp in skillet.
  • Add salsa to meat and cook on med for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add seasoning packets to the meat. This is important.this is how it gets it flavor.
  • Add the water to the meat mixture. I don't know how much because it really depends. You want the meat mixture to be wet, but not sopping. It should turn a dark brownish color and should hold together pretty well when there is enough water in it.
  • Cook the seasonings into the meat for 2-3 minutes, then slowly add into tomato mixture.
  • Add by serving spoonful, stirring the mixture well after each. Your tomato mixture will turn a dark reddish, brown color.
  • Bring to a rolling boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until seasonings are mixed in well.
  • Make sure to stir often.
