Steps:
- To make the dressing:.
- Whisk the vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil and red pepper with the oil. Set aside. (Makes 1/2 cup).
- To make salad:.
- Toss together the cabbage, lettuce, pears, carrots, and green onion in a large bowl, and drizzle with Asian Sesame Dressing, tossing gently to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately.

ASIAN SESAME DRESSING
My daughters and I had dinner at a Hu Hot restaurant awhile back. They have a wonderful Asian Sesame Dressing. I also bought an Asian Toasted Sesame Dressing by Kraft that is really good. I'm going to post two recipes I found on the internet to try. I sure hope one of them will be close to Kraft's or Hu Hot's recipe.

ASIAN SESAME DRESSING
A fantastic standby dressing to have on hand because it keeps for 3 weeks! Use this Asian dressing for leafy green salads, Asian slaws, noodle salads and chopped salads. It's also a terrific dressing to make steamed vegetables so much tastier. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh sesame seeds and sliced greens onions!

- Place ingredients in a jar and shake well until sugar is dissolved. Adjust saltiness with salt and sweetness with sugar to taste.
- Keep for up to 3 weeks, in the fridge (to be safe). Bring to room temp and shake well before use.
- Single serving batch is enough for 3 - 4 cups of shredded cabbage / leafy greens i.e. a side salad for 4 people.
- Big batch - my rule of thumb for how much dressing to use is generally 1 tbsp of dressing per 1 packed cup of shredded vegetables and 2 tsp per handful of leafy greens.

- Add 1 at a time through the feed tube of a running blender, vinegar, shallot, salt, pepper, tahini, and sesame seeds. Leaving the blender running add the oil in a slow thin stream. Set aside briefly.
- Toss greens, corn, orange, bell pepper, water chestnuts, and tomatoes together in a large bowl with enough dressing to coat. Serve with additional dressing on the side.
CUCUMBERS WITH SOY-SESAME DRESSING
This is a refreshing, Asian inspired cucumber salad. I got this from the Williams Sonoma "Cooking from the Farmers Market" cookbook. The sugar listed in the ingredients list was not in the original recipe, but I added it to suit my taste. Cook time is maximum marinating time.

- In a bowl, combine the rice vinegar, peanut oil, soy sauce, sesame oil and crushed red pepper and sugar (if using) and whisk well.
- Add cucumbers and red onion, and toss them in dressing.

- To serve, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped cilantro.

LIKE ARBY'S ASIAN SESAME DRESSING
My mother loved Arby's Asian salad, mainly the dressing. Unfortunately they stopped selling it. She asked me if I could create a copy cat of the dressing. She claims that the following recipe is just about perfect. I realize its a huge list of ingredients, so if your not the type that keeps tons of ingredients on hand, this might be a little much. It sure is good though.
