5 tablespoons soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 sprigs green onions (chopped)
1 yellow onion (sliced)
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 pinch black pepper
1 tablespoon sugar or 1 tablespoon honey
3 tablespoons red pepper paste (kochujang)
2 tablespoons korean red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients, refrigerate overnight for best results or a minimum of 1 hours.
  • Cook over medium-high heat in frying pan, stirring occasionally until well done and browned.
  • Serve with white rice.

1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons red miso paste
1 1/2 tablespoon sake
1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Add gochugaru, water, honey, and miso paste to a pot and stir over medium heat until the mixture bubbles.
  • Turn off the heat and leave for 15 minutes.
  • Stir in sake, vinegar and salt, and transfer the mixture to a bowl. Let cool to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate for up to 1 month.
