Steps:
- For the glaze: Mix all ingredients in a small bowl; set aside.
- For the meatloaf: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat oil in a medium skillet. Add onion and garlic, saute until softened, about 5 minutes; set aside to cool.
- Mix eggs with thyme, salt, pepper, mustard, Worchestershire, pepper sauce, and milk or yogurt. Add egg mixture to meat in a large bowl, along with crackers, oatmeal or bread crumbs, parsley and cook onions and garlic; mix with a fork until evenly blended and meat mixture does not stick to bowl. (If mixture does stick, add additional milk, a couple tablespoons at a time, and continue stirring until mixture stops sticking.)
- Turn meat mixture onto a work surface. With wet hands, pat mixture into a loaf approximately 9 by 5 inches.
- Cover a wire rack with foil; prick foil in several places with a fork. Place a rack on a shallow roasting pan lined with foil for easy cleanup.
- Set formed loaf on rack. Brush loaf with all of glaze, then arrange bacon slices, crosswise, over loaf, overlapping them slightly and tucking them under to prevent curling.
- Bake loaf until bacon is crisp and loaf registers 160 degrees, about 1 hour. Cool for at least 20 minutes. Slice and serve

12 BEST SUBSTITUTES FOR KETCHUP - SUBSTITUTE COOKING
From substitutecooking.com
- Tomato Paste. Tomato paste is one of the best substitutes for tomato ketchup because of its very similar taste and texture. It is also used to make ketchup.
- Barbecue Sauce. Barbecue sauce is one of the best substitutes for ketchup. Even though it doesn’t have the same flavor profile, it does have a similar one, so it is a great condiment to meals instead of ketchup.
- Sriracha. Sriracha is a spicy condiment made of chili which has become super popular worldwide. It does not actually contain tomatoes, however, it is made the same way as ketchup, but with chili instead.
- Tomato Jam. Tomato jam is the sweeter, less processed cousin of ketchup and is often referred to as a fancier version of ketchup. This can be bought at supermarkets or made at home and it has a sweet, acidic flavor and is a great substitute for ketchup.
- Apple Cider Vinegar. Ketchup is known for its acidic, vinegary flavor. So, if you’re missing it for sauces, you can add in a teaspoon or two of apple cider vinegar instead, according to taste.
- Tomato Sauce. If you don’t have ketchup available but want to add a tomato flavor to your dish, then you can always use jarred tomato sauce instead. Jarred tomato sauce is very rich and has that same tomato flavor.
- Sun-Dried Tomatoes. Sun-dried tomatoes are a great ingredient to keep as they are usually stored in oil and can last a long time, and they add a great tomato umami flavor to any dish.
- Salsa. Salsa is much chunkier than ketchup but is also made with tomatoes and has a rich, sweet taste to it, making it a great substitute for ketchup as a dip.
- Chili Jam. Like tomato jam, chili jam is known as a fancier alternative to ketchup. It is not made of tomatoes but has a sweet, yet slightly spicy flavor.
- Red Pesto. Red pesto is the cousin of green pesto, often made with sundried tomatoes, walnuts, and garlic, and is used on pizza or pasta. Or you can add it to sauces for flavor.
