This different Jell-O® salad, made with cabbage, chopped ham, mayonnaise, and spicy brown mustard, has a taste that's more savory than sweet.

1 (3 ounce) package lemon-flavored gelatin mix (such as Jell-O®)
1 cup boiling water
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple in juice, drained and juice reserved
1 ½ tablespoons white wine vinegar
½ cup cold water, or as needed
½ cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons spicy brown mustard, or to taste
1 cup finely chopped cabbage
½ cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped cooked ham

Steps:

  • Dissolve lemon gelatin in boiling water in a large bowl. Pour reserved pineapple juice and white wine vinegar into a measuring cup; add enough cold water to equal 1 cup. Stir water-juice mixture into gelatin mixture; refrigerate until cold and beginning to set, about 30 minutes.
  • Stir mayonnaise and spicy brown mustard together in a bowl; whisk mayonnaise mixture into cooled lemon gelatin mixture until smooth. Gently fold cabbage, celery, ham, and reserved pineapple into gelatin. Transfer mixture into a ring-shaped gelatin mold.
  • Chill in refrigerator until firmly set, about 4 hours. To serve, dip gelatin mold into hot water to loosen the sides; place a plate on top of the mold, invert, and gently lift the mold from the salad.

This is a different jello salad for you. I get tired of the same ones we always have, so when my friend gave me this one I tried it. It's a really nice, and very pretty salad. We loved it! Needs chilling time.

2 cans crushed pineapple, drained
1 (6 ounce) box lemon Jell-O gelatin
2 cups 7-Up soda
2 cups pineapple juice
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons butter
2 eggs
2 cups whipped topping

Steps:

  • Mix the pineapple, jello, and 7up.
  • Pour into a 9x13 dish.
  • Put into refrigerator to set.
  • In saucepan, mix juice, flour, butter and eggs.
  • Cook and stir, on med, bring to a boil.
  • Boil for 1 minute.
  • Allow to cool, while jello sets.
  • Mix the cooled cooked mixture with the whipped topping.
  • Spread over the jello.

My family has always liked Waldorf Salad with Lemon Dressing for a Thanksgiving side-dish. This year I created this Waldorf Jell-O Salad to make it more appealing to the grandkids. Let me know how you like it.

6 ounces raspberry Jell-O gelatin
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple
4 cups cranberry juice
1 1/2 cups chopped fresh cranberries
1 1/2 cups chopped unpeeled apples
3/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 lemon, juice and zest of

Steps:

  • Add raisins to 2 cups of cranberry juice and bring to a boil.
  • Pour boiling liquid over 6 ounces of Jell-O in mixing bowl.
  • Add drained pineapple, reserving juice.
  • Add enough cranberry juice to the pineapple juice to make 2 cups. Add it to Jell-O mixture.
  • Add chopped cranberries, chopped apples, chopped pecans and miniature marshmallows.
  • Add zest and juice of 1 lemon.
  • Stir together and pour into 3" deep container.
  • Refrigerate until serving time.
