- Melt butter, syrup and sugar in pan. Stir steadily until it comes to a boil. Boil on medium heat until mixture turns a light caramel color (about 15 minutes). Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour over popped corn, nuts, gumdrops and M & M's. Mix and spread to dry on cookie sheets.

- 1. Mix popped popcorn and nuts on a cookie sheet.
- 2. Combine sugar, margarine and Karo syrup in a 1 1/2 quart saucepan.
- 3. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally.
- 4. Boil 10-15 minutes; mixture will turn light caramel color.
- 5. Pour over popped poprcorn and nuts.
- 6. Spread to dry. When dry break apart and store in tightly covered container.

Steps:
- Mix popped popcorn and nuts on cookie sheet or in a bowl.
- Combine sugar, margarine and karo in 1 1/2 quart saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes or till mixture turns a light caramel color.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla.
- Pour over popcorn and nuts.
- Mix and coat well.
- Spread out to dry.
- When dry break apart.
- Store in tightly covered container.
- You can omit the nuts and add more popcorn.
WALNUT PIE
I have had this recipe for many many years. I believe it originally came from a Karo syrup bottle. I make this every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Pecan pie and walnut pie are my favorite pies. The walnut pie has a toasted nut flavor.

Steps:
- Mix together eggs, sugar, flour, corn syrup, butter and vanilla, mixing well.
- Pour into pie shell.
- Sprinkle walnuts all over top, arranging them where needed.
- Bake in preheated 400°F oven for 15 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 35 to 45 more minutes, or until center is set.
- Cool before serving.

- Spread popcorn and nuts in shallow roasting pan; set aside.
- Mix together sugar, margarine and corn syrup in 2-quart saucepan; cover and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
- Continue boiling, stirring occasionally, until temperature on candy thermometer reaches 290 F., or until small amount of syrup dropped into very cold water separates into threads which are hard but not brittle.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla; pour over popped corn mixture, stirring to coat well.
- Spread out to cool. Break into pieces and store in tightly covered container.
