  • Cook 1 1/2 cups large black tapioca in boiling water, 6 minutes; cover and let sit off the heat, 30 minutes. Bring 1 cup each water and sugar to a boil; transfer to a bowl. Drain the tapioca and soak in the sugar syrup. To serve, put 1/4 cup tapioca in a glass. Shake 1 cup cold green tea, 3 tablespoons soaking syrup, 1/4 cup milk and 1 tablespoon sugar with ice; pour over the tapioca.

1/4 cup yellow cake batter
1/4 cup fat-free half-and-half
1/2 cup tea, base
1/2 cup milk
2 -4 tablespoons prepared tapioca
1 -2 teaspoon sugar syrup
2 teaspoons candy sprinkles
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 drop yellow food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon sugar-free vanilla syrup
ice

Steps:

  • To make cake batter I used a recipe from this site for cake mix frosting (#104747) and a recipe for make your own cake mix (#192436). In the second recipe I omitted adding, leavening and eggs to the cake mix.
  • Add everything except tapioca and ice to your cocktail shaker, seal tight and shake for 10 seconds.
  • Place tapioca at the bottom of a tall glass, pour shaken mixture over pearls and serve with bubble tea straw and as much ice as you want.

1 cup fresh or frozen fruit ( we made three and used blueberries, mango and strawberries )
1 cup milk (we used 2%)
1 tbsp honey (optional)
ice cubes (if using fresh fruit I recommend using 4-5 ice cubes to give your Bubble Tea a nice thicker consistency.)
Prepared Boba (Black tapioca Pearls)

Steps:

  • Prepare your Boba according to package instructions. I prepared 1 cup for the 3 Bubble Teas.
  • Add the fruit, milk, ice and honey into your favorite blending device.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Place prepared Boba on the bottom of your favorite drinking glass.
  • Pour in your fruit/milk mixture.
  • Serve with a wide straw so you can sip up your boba.
  • Enjoy!

¾ cup strawberries
1½ cups milk of choice
1½ Tbsp peanut butter
½ tsp vanilla
liquid sweetener (to taste (if desired))
⅓ cup boba tapioca pearls ((cooked))

Steps:

  • Fill a large pot halfway with water and bring to a boil. If desired, add ~10 drops liquid sweetener to infuse some sweetness. (I like to use stevia or monk fruit drops.)
  • Add uncooked boba tapioca pearls to boiling water. Lightly stir unto boba begin to float, then cover and boil for 3 minutes.
  • Remove pot from heat and carefully drain boba pearls. Transfer to a bowl and cover with water until ready to use. (Otherwise they'll stick together!)
  • In a blender, combine strawberries, milk, peanut butter, vanilla, and sweetener (if desired) and blend until smooth.
  • Add cooked tapioca pearls to desired boba tea cups, pour in blended milk tea, serve with a boba straw, and enjoy!

8 cups water
½ cup tapioca pearls
2.5 tbsp black tea
4 cups water
½ cup white sugar
½ cup water
1¾ cup brewed tea
¼ cup milk
¼ cup simple syrup
¼ cup ice
½ cup tapioca pearls

Steps:

  • Add water and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Once the sugar completely dissolves, your simple syrup is ready to use or store in a clean jar.
  • In a separate saucepan, cook the tapioca pearls in boiling water for 5 to 8 minutes. Once cooked, remove the pearls from the hot water. Transfer them into a bowl of iced cold water for 2 minutes. Remove your boba from the water and mix in half of the simple syrup.
  • Steep the tea leaves in boiled water for about 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the tea leaves according to your desired consistency.
  • Pour in the ice, simple syrup, tea, and milk into a glass.
  • Finally, add your tapioca pearls on top of the drink. Serve your bubble tea with a thick straw and enjoy!
