Time 2h35m

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 inches cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
2 cups white cranberries (I used red as white could not be found- my punch was rosey colored)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons honey
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 (750 ml) bottle pinot grigio wine (or similar)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a 3 qt crock pot.
  • Cover and cook on low setting 2.5 hours. Remove and discard cloves and cinnamon sticks before serving.
  • Directions for spice bag- gather spices and put in a piece of cheesecloth tied with a string. (leave longer threads so it is easier to take out or I hang mine from the end of the crock similar to a tea bag) The punch retains the flavor of the spices without the mess of removal.

HOLIDAY PUNCH CROCK POT CIDER

Holiday Punch Crock Pot Cider image

This is a comfort drink that gives your Home a Beautiful Aroma. Full of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger & cardamom. Like fruity Chai. I favor the Apple Schnapp or Buttershots if you opt for booze. You can always make it without the booze and let those that want it add it themselves. It would be fun to try the different kinds.

TRADITIONAL MULLED WINE IN THE CROCK POT

Traditional Mulled Wine in the Crock Pot image

I was wanting to use my crock pot to make a traditional mulled wine for Christmas. I sourced a number of recipes and came up with this

Provided by Abby Girl

Categories     Beverages

Time 3h20m

Yield 12-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 liters red wine, medium to full bodied
2 lemons, cut up
2 oranges, cut up
1/4-1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, to taste (freshly grated)
6 -8 cloves, to taste
1 ounce brandy (or to taste)
1 cup white sugar (optional)
3 cups herbal tea, depending on taste (or citrus influenced tea, (or more)
4 large cinnamon sticks

Steps:

  • Make the tea. Let it steep and cool slightly. Add to crock pot. (I added about 4 cups).
  • Cut the lemons and oranges into slices. Add the red wine. Add the brandy (cognac could be substituted).
  • Add sugar to taste.
  • Add cinnamon sticks and cloves.
  • Heat in the crock pot for approximately 3 hours, or until warmed. (I was turning the pot on/off when the wine got too hot/cold during the evening).
  • Note: Never let the wine mixture boil, or it will spoil. I used home made wine that our friend had given us. I used Ginger Tea, but any herbal tea could be used ~ or ~ for a different taste, use orange or pineapple juice.

  • Pour apple cider into a 3 1/2 quart crock pot. Add 4 or 5 cinnamon sticks. Punch holes in the orange with a toothpick and stick in whole cloves. You can add as many or few as you like. I usually just make several rings around the orange with the cloves.
  • Place the orange into the crock pot. Heat on low for about 4 or 5 hours. Remove orange and cinnamon sticks before serving. If using rum or bourbon just have guests add to their cup or glass how much they like and then add the mulled cider along with a cinnamon stick.
  • Makes 8 cups. This will keep for several days in the refrigerator and can be reheated in the microwave when you want to enjoy a cup. Your house will smell wonderful when this recipe is simmering in the crock pot.
