HOT BUTTERED RUM BATTER MIX DRINK
This is such an old recipe that has been in my family for so long that I cannot remember its history. So many of our family recipes come from my grandparents who, during World War II, had to cook and bake without certain ingredients that were often rationed during wartime. It seems to me that this might be one of those recipes. The mix produces a very rich and tasty batter that you can keep in your refrigerator and take out on those cold winter evenings when you want a creamy Hot Buttered Rum drink to take away the chill after spending a cold day playing or working in the snow. It's great mix to use for a holiday party or any large gathering during the winter when hot beverages are appreciated. And what's better than the classic Hot Buttered Rum !!

HOT BUTTERED RUM
Only scale down to half at most. It is difficult to scale much farther down and still get the batter to come together. Made this in 2004 xmas and it tasted good, but wished I'd made more and just kept the leftover batter around.

Create your holiday memories with this hot drink on the holidays. While putting up your cherished Holiday decorations, put a kettle of hot water on, a shot or two of rum and a spoon or two of batter in the mugs. Add a Holiday garnish of your choice. Sip while enjoying the holiday spirit. I received this recipe from my mother in law many years ago. It was my first taste of Hot Buttered Rum and quickly became a favorite of mine. Do Not Use Margarine. Apparently after posting this recipe there has been some debate that this recipe may not be alcohol free after all.
