2 cups water
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In medium saucepan over medium high heat, bring water and sugar to a boil.
  • Cook until mixture thickens slightly, about three minutes.
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and let cool to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

3 limes, zested and juiced
3 Grapefruits, zested and juiced
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch salt
Club soda or seltzer

Steps:

  • Strain the citrus juices together into a small saucepan.
  • Add the sugar, vanilla and pinch of salt. Heat until a gentle boil is reached. Then add the zest and turn off heat. Allow mixture to cool.
  • Strain off the zest and refrigerate until needed.
  • Mix citrus syrup with club soda or seltzer to desired strength for flavored soft drink.
