HOMEMADE SLOPPY JOE'S WITH A DELICIOUS TWIST
This is another recipe I use my Grandma Vinion's Peppers with Red Sauce in! It is absolutely delicious & once you have it this way, you won't want them any other way! My brother Loves my Sloppy Joe's & says no matter how hard he tries he just can't make them the way I do! I can guarantee if he shows up on a day I've made them, I have NO left-overs! He will eat them until they are gone! The best thing is, you can make them sweet or spicy depending on what peppers you add! I will post the peppers recipe link in the comment section of this post. Love sharing the ways to use these peppers!

Steps:
- In a large bowl, combine tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, & pint of Grandma Vinion's Peppers in Red Sauce. Mix until well blended. Set aside.
- In a large skillet crumble lean ground beef, add minced garlic, diced green pepper, diced onion, salt & pepper. Cook until meat is browned through. Drain off any excess fat if there is any.
- Add sauce & pepper mixture and stir in. Cook over low-medium heat 20-30 minutes or until heated through. If you want a little kick to your Sloppy Joe's use the hot peppers in Red Sauce. *******NOTE: If you don't have the peppers on hand. Check out my Sausage Cacciatore Recipe for a quick mock version of these wonderful peppers!!
- Serve on fresh hamburger buns with a slice of American Cheese! I make this recipe in large portions for parties. When I do, I brown meat, transfer to crock pot and add the sauce mixture & allow to cook on low for 4 hours. Then keep warm. Keeps well in a crock pot for those pot lucks or parties!

THE BEST SLOPPY JOES
This is weeknight comfort food at its finest. We created a homemade sauce that is tangy and flavorful but also quick and easy. We used both ketchup and canned tomato sauce for lots of tomato-y zip and just a touch of brown sugar for a bit of sweetness and slight caramel finish. Green bell pepper is a key addition; it really enhances the other ingredients, elevating the flavor profile into the realm of a true sloppy joe.

Steps:
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and peppers and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and starting to caramelize in some spots, 6 to 7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the beef and cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon or spatula, until it is browned, no longer pink in the middle and cooked through, 7 to 8 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, red wine vinegar, paprika, cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon salt and a generous amount of black pepper and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened and heated through, 5 to 6 minutes. Spoon the meat onto the toasted buns.

Steps:
- Brown ground beef, salt and pepper to taste. Drain and set aside. (Reserve approximately 1 teaspoons grease).
- Saute onions in same pan with approximately 1 teaspoons grease (from the ground beef) until golden brown. Add garlic and saute an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Place cooked meat back into pan with onions and garlic. Add tomato soup and bbq sauce. Mix well. Add sweet relish (to suit your taste). Mix and taste test, if needed add more salt and pepper.
- Place sloppy joe mix on your favorite kind of bun (toasted or not) and add your favorite kind of cheese (optional) like provolone, american, swiss, colby, etc -- and enjoy.
- We serve this with spicy steak fries, cottage cheese, pickles, potato or macaroni salad or cole slaw. This is a great alternative from the canned S.J. mix.

SLOPPY JOES
I am allergic to onions so I am always looking for recipes that don't call for onions. This one is just fine without. I suppose you could add them while browning the hamburger. I'm guessing most of you will!

MY FAMILY'S FAVORITE SLOPPY JOES (PIZZA JOES)
I've tried many recipes, this is the best. I once 'dec-tupled' (10x) this recipe to sell sandwiches at a craft fair at my church. People were waiting in line to buy leftovers. Freezes well, goes up to the lake or camping well and is a hit on Halloween...it's no-fail. Easy to double, triple, etc. I've been making Joes this way for over 20 years. ***03-08-09, I just reinvented this recipe tonight when I went to make it for dinner and found I didn't have an 8-oz. can of tomato sauce (shame on me). The family was upset with me when I subbed an 8-oz. can of pizza sauce and told them to suck it up and call them 'Pizza Joes' and then served them up with shredded mozzarella cheese on the toasted buns, top and bottom. They loved it. I left out the BBQ sauce in this preparation and just used a 1/2 cup ketchup. Pizza Joes are good to go!
