Easy Pepperoni Bread image

Frozen bread dough makes this tasty recipe a breeze to prepare! Pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and Italian seasonings are rolled together, baked to delicious perfection, then cut into bite-sized delights. Your guests will beg for the recipe!

1 (1 pound) loaf frozen bread dough
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
½ tablespoon dried basil leaves
½ tablespoon dried minced onion flakes
½ tablespoon dried oregano
1 (8 ounce) package sliced pepperoni sausage
1 (6 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg, lightly beaten

Steps:

  • Allow frozen bread dough to thaw approximately 8 hours, or overnight, in the refrigerator. Place dough in a large, lightly greased bowl. Place bowl in a warm location, and allow dough to rise until doubled (2 to 3 hours). Punch down dough.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • On a lightly greased, large baking sheet, roll dough into an approximately 12x18 inch rectangle. Brush dough lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle with basil, onion flakes and oregano. Layer with pepperoni to within a half inch of the edges. Top with mozzarella cheese.
  • Beginning with the longest edge, roll dough into a thin cylinder and seal seam. Glaze with egg.
  • Bake in the preheated oven 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Cut into bite sized pieces to serve.

2 tablespoons warm water
1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
3 1/4 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2/3 cup diced pepperoni

Steps:

  • In bread machine pan, place the first seven ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer.
  • Select basic bread setting.
  • Choose medium crust color.
  • Just before final kneading, (usually machine will beep at this time) add the pepperoni.
  • Make a 1 1/2 lb loaf.
  • Do not use delay timer feature for this recipe.

This bread machine cheese bread recipe is simple to make and is quite delicious. It also looks great. I don't know much about art... but this cheese bread loaf looks almost like a crazy Jackson Pollock painting! The cheese topping on this "abstract art" cheese bread loaf is certainly a conversation starter.

1 1/8 Cups - Milk ((lukewarm) - 1 1/8 cups of milk is equivalent to 1 cup and 2 tablespoons of milk)
4 Tablespoons - Unsalted Butter ((softened))
3 Cups - Bread Flour
1 Cup - Shredded Cheese
1 Tablespoon - Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon - Italian Herbs Seasoning ((optional))
1 1/2 Teaspoons - Salt
1 1/2 Teaspoons - Bread Machine Yeast

Steps:

  • Bread machine settings - 2 pound loaf, light color and "basic" bread setting.
  • Pour the milk into the bread pan and then add the other ingredients (including the cup of cheese). Place the bread machine yeast in last and the yeast should not touch the liquid (until the bread machine is turned on and the ingredients start to be mixed together).
  • Plug in bread machine. Enter the correct settings (basic, light color & 2 lb) and press the "start" button.
  • Optional - After the FINAL kneading cycle and BEFORE the baking cycle commences, sprinkle a little extra shredded cheese on top of the dough. For safety reasons, do not place your hands inside the bread machine.
  • When the bread machine has finished baking the bread, unplug the bread machine. Remove the bread and place it on a cooling rack. Use oven mitts when removing the bread machine container (bread loaf pan) as it will be very hot!
  • After removing the bread, don't forget to remove the mixing paddle if it is stuck in the bread. Use oven mitts as the mixing paddle will be very hot coming out of the bread machine. Or wait until the bread is completely cooled and then remove the mixing paddle.
  • In our bread machine, the baking takes about 3 hours for a 2 pound bread at the light color & basic bread settings. However, some machines can differ and you don't want to be away from home when the bread machine "finished" alarm goes off! Your bread machine should show you the length of the baking time after you have entered the settings into the machine. This will allow you to know when to be in the kitchen in order to remove the bread.
  • Before using your bread machine, you should read the bread machine manufacturer's instructions in order to use the bread machine effectively and safely.

1 cup water, warm or room temp
1/4 cup light olive oil
3 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2-1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2-1 tablespoon minced dried onions
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup pepperoni slice, chopped
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Steps:

  • 1 Place the ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order listed or as recommended by your machine's manufacturer. 2 You can adjust the garlic and onion to your preference. 3 Don't let the salt touch the yeast. 4 At this point you can either select White Bread and press Start to complete in the bread machine, or use the dough setting and finish in the oven. 5 I prefer the oven method as it seems to result in a higher loaf with better texture. 6 Directions for oven method: Select dough cycle and press start. 7 When complete, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and punch down. 8 Flatten out into a rectangle, patting to get out bubbles. 9 Roll tightly into a log, turn seam side down, and tuck the ends under. 10 Place into a loaf pan that has been lightly greased with olive oil, loosely cover with plastic wrap sprayed with nonstick spray, and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes or until doubled. 11 Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until done (if the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped, it's done). 12 Immediately remove from loaf pan and cool on a wire rack at least 10-15 minutes before slicing.
