- Using Fragrance Oil Gather materials. You probably already have an unscented candle at home but if not, you can find one at stores that sell home furnishings.
- Using Wax Beads Make a mess-free candle. You will need wax beads which are tiny wax balls, slightly larger than sand. These are available in a myriad of colors.
- Using Scented Cubes Purchase scented cubes. Scented cubes are small wax cubes with a powerful scent. Most large retailers carry scented cubes and there are hundreds to choose from.
- Making a Scented Candle from Scratch Gather materials. To make your own candle, you will need a bag of soy wax flakes, one wick (more if making several candles), a glass container for the candle, a scented oil of your choosing, skewers and a glass measuring cup.

- Citron Blossom Cassis. More of a masculine fragrance, this floral, dewy and sensual scent is perfect for intimate dinners and evenings by the fire. Cozy restaurants, ski lodges and other places that cater to winter sports and clientele might find their hotel guests unwilling to leave their rooms with this sexy scent wafting from strategically placed candles.
- Beachwood Vetiver and Sea Spray Driftwood. One whiff and you are at the beach with your toes digging in the warm sand, even if you are freezing body parts off somewhere in the dead of winter!
- Huckleberry Sugar Blossom. This strong, mostly feminine scent evokes feelings of comfort, home and a cozy fireplace with the mouth-watering promise of huckleberry pie fresh from the oven.
- Amber and Vanilla Blossom. The sweet scent of vanilla is definitely feminine and very sensual. Because it is so often a vital ingredient in scrumptious desserts of all kinds, the association with food is inescapable.
- Red Currant Persimmon. Punchy, zesty, sweet and slightly tart, this aromatic herbal blend is tempered with floral notes of rose, jasmine and geranium, all of which evoke sensuality and relaxation.
- Water Lily and Hyacinth. Victorians treasured the sweet and lingering scent of hyacinth, and this aroma gracefully melds with the fresh, slightly sweet and lemony fragrance of water lily.
- Sparkling Citron and Oak Barrel Vanilla. Sensual, calming and sweet notes of vanilla are blended into this complex scent with sharp notes of mulled fruit and warm wood.
- Indonesian Patchouli Amber. A member of the mint family, true patchouli is velvety, woodsy, sweet and very sensual. When coupled with amber, which never stands alone in a fragrance, it takes on rich and earthy notes of vanilla; cedar-wood; sandalwood; frankincense and myrrh.
- Goji Berry Mango. The tartness of the goji berry, also known as the wolfberry, combines with Asia’s king of fruits to render a slightly sweet fragrance that is tropical, succulent and tinged with traces of peach and plum.
- Acai and Pomelo. Pomelo oil is a refreshing and energizing fragrance reminiscent of grapefruit. This citrus note brightens and uplifts both moods and surroundings.

- Poured Mason Jar Candle. I love using mason jars for little DIY touches around the house, whether it’s to hold pencils at my desk or as a quirky little flower vase.
- Chocolate Brownie Candle. Of course, this Chocolate Brownie Candle isn’t edible, but it certainly sounds like the scent might tempt you. Even people who aren’t the biggest fans of chocolate, of whom I am yet to meet more than a couple, can’t deny that the smell is delicious, who wouldn’t want that wafting through their house?
- Teacup Candles. These Teacup Candles are just the sweetest thing and would look so gorgeous scattered across a table at an afternoon tea, or even just around the house for use whenever you fancy.
- Funfetti Homemade Candles. The effect that covering the outside of this candle in sprinkles gives it is so bright and fun, and this is most definitely a gift that I myself would love to receive.
- Pumpkin Spice Candle. I feel like you can make absolutely everything related to pumpkin spice nowadays, but I do really love the scent so I am not against it.
- Rosemary and Grapefruit Candle. Even if these homemade candles didn’t have the most incredible scent I would still be totally in love with them, just look at all that pretty.
- Pressed Herb Homemade Candles. These Pressed Herb Candles would make beautiful gifts, that is if you can bear to give them away after making them. I love the fact that, when lit, the glowing of the candle shows through the wax and makes the herbs stand out even more.
- French Vanilla Candle. Imagine filling a hot bath right up to the top with bubbles, popping in your favorite bath bomb and lighting a few of these French Vanilla Candles around the bathroom.
- Strawberry Lemonade Candle. I love my sweet and fruity scents, so I am definitely sold on this Strawberry Lemonade Candle. This would be absolutely perfect to light on a summer’s evening, or equally on a cold winter’s one to make you forget about the cold outside.
- Champagne Flute Homemade Candles. What could be more romantic than a homemade dinner, the table set with your best crockery and adorned with these Champagne Flute Candles?

From thewaxcandles.com
- Prepare your double boiler or bowl. You will need to prepare a double boiler to melt your wax efficiently and safely. Place water in the big pot and put it on the stove.
- Prepare your materials and place them on top of a clean surface. Make sure that you’re working area is clean and dry. This way, you can avoid making a mess when doing the candle-making procedure.
- Melt your wax. Put the piece of wax in the double boiler. Let it melt until completely smooth and liquid. Make sure that you stir it occasionally to avoid burning or sticking.
- Prepare your container for pouring. Pour a thin layer of melted wax into your glass jar to ensure that the wick will stay in place. Try not to spill any wax on the side or bottom of your pot.
- Add your wick to the jar. Once you have removed the hardened wax in step 4, it’s time to add the wick. Make sure that you place it at least one inch away from the bottom of your container to ensure that there will be enough room for melting.
- Prepare your scented candles wax. Cut the scented candles wax into smaller pieces so it will melt faster. Add them to the double boiler or metal bowl and let it melt completely.
- Pour your wax. Once the wax has completely melted, pour it into your jar, ensuring that you don’t spill any on the side or bottom. You can use a ladle for this step to make it easier for you.
- Add Essential Oils. Add 20-30 drops of essential oil, depending on how strong you want your candles to smell. Keep in mind that adding too much oil might cause the candles to burn quickly or ooze, so always start with low amounts and add more if needed.
- Let it cool. Take a moment to let your wax harden before you move on to the next step. To speed things up, you can place your jar in cold water. Once it has cooled completely, take out the wick clips, and voila!
