I like to serve wedges of this bread with stew or bean soup. My husband thinks it's a big treat-little does he know how easy it is to make. My children eat it for breakfast the next day with butter and strawberry jam. -Judi Havens of Denton, Texas

Yield 1 loaf (10 wedges).

Number Of Ingredients 9

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons quick-cooking oats, divided
1/4 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1-1/2 cups fat-free milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

In a large bowl, combine the flours, 1/2 cup oats, sugar, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, combine the egg, milk and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Spread batter into an 8- or 9-in. round baking pan coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with remaining oats., Bake at 350° for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Serve warm.

Ingredients

6 cups whole wheat bread
1 tablespoon instant yeast
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 cup oats
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 1/4-2 1/3 cups boiling water

Steps:

Grease pan and preheat oven 350°F.
Mix all dry ingredients.
Add in wet ingredients.
Knead until smooth and elastic.
Place in greased bowl, cover and rest until double. About 40 minute.
Divide into 3 7x3 loaf pan (approx 463g / loaf). Proof about 30 minute.
Bake 30-35 till brown top.

1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup raisins
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup applesauce

Steps:

Heat oven to 350*.
Grease and flour a 9 inch loaf pan.
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into lg mixing bowl.
Add brown sugar, eggs, and all remaining ingredients.
Mix until throughly combined.
Pour into pan.
Bake for 55 minutes, or until a pick comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack.

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup ketchup

Steps:

In a large bowl, combine the egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, oats, onion, salt, sage and pepper. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. , Press into an ungreased 8x4-in. loaf pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1-1/4 hours; drain., Spread ketchup over meat loaf. Bake until meat is no longer pink and a thermometer reads 160°, about 10 minutes longer. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
