4 bacon strips, chopped
1 tablespoon canola or coconut oil
2 large sweet potatoes (about 1-1/2 pounds), peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups cubed fresh pineapple (1/2-inch cubes)

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp, stirring occasionally. Remove with a slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. Discard drippings., In same pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add potatoes and seasonings; cook and stir 15 minutes. Add pineapple; cook and stir until potatoes are tender and browned, 8-10 minutes. Sprinkle with bacon.

Pork Hash is Hawaii's version of Chinese shumai. These steamed dim sum treats are made with pork and shrimp. Super comforting and onolicious. Dip in soy sauce/hot mustard and enjoy.

1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and diced
1 egg
1 can water chestnuts (8 ounces), diced
2 stalks green onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 package round dumpling skins

Steps:

  • First, make the filling! Mix pork, shrimp, egg, water chestnuts, green onions, garlic cornstarch, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper together in a mixing bowl.
  • Now assemble the pork hash. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of dumpling skin. Fold the edges up and wrap around the filling, making sure to keep the top open/exposed. Repeat this step until you've used up all the filling.
  • Steam for 20 minutes.
  • To eat: dip the pork hash in a soy sauce...or as we usually do in Hawaii, a mixture of soy sauce and hot mustard. Eat hot and enjoy ^_^

¼ pound ground pork
¼ pound shrimp - peeled, deveined and minced to a paste
1 egg white
2 tablespoons chopped water chestnuts
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon oyster sauce
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon sesame oil
1 (14 ounce) package round dumpling skins

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the ground pork, shrimp, egg white, water chestnuts, green onion, cornstarch, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, oyster sauce, salt, pepper, and sesame oil.
  • Place about 1 tablespoon of this filling onto the center of each dumpling wrapper, and bring the sides up to the top. Do not seal the top, as these dumplings are left open. Place dumplings in a steamer.
  • Set the steamer basket over a pan or wok of boiling water. Steam for 30 minutes.

1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks in juice, drained
2 (8 ounce) cans mandarin oranges, drained
2 (15 ounce) cans fruit cocktail in juice, drained
1/2 cup coconut
1 cup sour cream
4 ounces Cool Whip, thawed (half of an 8 oz. tub)
2 cups miniature marshmallows

Steps:

  • After draining the fruits, pat them with paper towels to get more moisture off.
  • Stir together sour cream and Cool Whip. Add remaining ingredients and stir gently to combine.
  • Chill at least 4 hours.

I'm not sure whether to put this in the dessert or the salad section! It's absolutely delish!!!It's easy, it's so pretty, and the taste is out of this world!

1 ripe pineapple (about 3 pounds)
1 cup papaya, fresh, peeled and cut up
1/4 cup maraschino cherry, cherries. sliced
12 large marshmallows, quartered (note if you don't have the large marshmallows, you can sub 11/2 cups of the miniature ones)
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
2 ripe bananas, sliced
1 (3 1/2 ounce) can flaked coconut

Steps:

  • Cut off the top of the washed pineapple. Remove the rind by cutting down the pineapple in wide slices.
  • Remove eyes by cutting V-shape wedges full length of pineapple, following the the diagonal pattern of the eyes . Lift out the wedges, and discard. Cut pineapple crosswise into 1/2-inch slices; remove core. Cut slices into chunks, (you should have about 2 cups).
  • In large bowl, toss pineapple chunks, papaya, cherries, and marshmallos until well combined. Refrigerate , covered, until well chilled-about 2 hours.
  • Just before serving, fold in whipped cream, banana, and 1 cup coconut. Spoon into dessert dishes; sprinkle with the rest of the coconut.

8 pineapple rings, from a can
8 slices cheddar cheese, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Oven bake the hashbrowns on a lined baking tray (according to manufacturers instructions) until brown and crisp.
  • Remove hashbrowns from the oven for a couple of minutes and top each with a slice of ham, pineapple and cheese.
  • Return to the hot oven for a further 10 minutes until toppings are heated through and cheese has melted.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup cooked ham, diced
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained
1 cup crystal farms finely shredded 6 cheese Italian cheese blend

Steps:

  • Mix the Simply Potatoes® O'Brien Hash Browns with the ham in bowl.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large non-stick skillet.
  • Add the hash brown/ham mixture to the pan and cook for about 8 minutes or until it starts getting browned on the bottom.
  • Stir the hash browns around and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the drained pineapple tidbits and allow to cook for 1 minute until heated through.
  • Take pan off heat and sprinkle with the cheese. Let it sit until melted then serve immediately.

When we lived in Hawaii, this one was our favorites. This looks close to our favorite so we are posting here to keep. You can double the pork and leave out the shrimp or whatever you'd like, it's pretty flexible. So ono it broke the mouth as they say over at da kine.

1/4 lb ground pork
1/4 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined and minced to a paste
1 egg white
2 tablespoons chopped water chestnuts
2 tablespoons chopped green onions
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon oyster sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1 (14 ounce) package wonton skins

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the ground pork, shrimp, egg white, water chestnuts, green onion, cornstarch, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, oyster sauce, salt, pepper, and sesame oil.
  • Place about 1 tablespoon of this filling onto the center of each dumpling wrapper, and bring the sides up to the top. Do not seal the top, as these dumplings are left open. Place dumplings in a steamer.
  • Set the steamer basket over a pan or wok of boiling water. Steam for 30 minutes.
  • Note: We have had a problem with the bottoms falling apart, next time we'll try to spray the bottom of the steaming basket - if you find a solution, let us know!
