COPYCAT GREEN TEA LEMON DRINK

Copycat Green Tea Lemon Drink image

This is my version of Lipton's Diet Lemon Green Tea drink, without all that sodium!!! I always seem to have a drink going and I really hate drinking plain water, so I figure I might as well get some extra benefits by drinking green tea with all those wonderful oxidents. I have to watch my sugar intake, so I purposely made it low in sugar...but this can be flavored to personal preference. I literally make a jug of this each day and go through the whole thing. Serve this hot or cold

Provided by Abby Girl

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 8-10 cups

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 g green tea (1 packet, preferably organic or decaffeinated)
1/2 lemon, juice of
1 tablespoon sugar (or use Splenda)

Steps:

  • Brew the tea in a large tea pot. Timing depends on how strong you like your tea. I usually let it sit for 15 minutes then dilute with hot water if needed.
  • Transfer the liquid to a large jug and add lemon and sugar. Add more sugar if needed. Drink hot or cold.

GREEN JASMINE-MINT ICED TEA WITH LEMON

Green Jasmine-Mint Iced Tea With Lemon image

From EatingWell Magazine (July/Aug 2009): Here we balance the mildly grassy flavor and slightly astringent mouthfeel of green tea with honey and lemon. Over steeped green tea can be bitter, so don't brew it any longer than 3 minutes. And be sure to steep in simmering water - water that looks like it's steaming, with little bubbles, but NOT boiling. NOTE: 2 hour chill time is not included in prep/cook time.

Provided by kitty.rock

Categories     Beverages

Time 10m

Yield 8 1-cup servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup loose green jasmine tea or 12 green jasmine tea bags
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, plus more whole sprigs for garnish
4 cups simmering water
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup honey
4 cups cold water

Steps:

  • Steep loose tea (or tea bags) and mint leaves in simmering (not boliing) water for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Strain the tea (or remove the tea bags and mint leaves) and pour into a large pitcher. Stir in lemon juice and honey until the honey is dissolved.
  • Add cold water. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours.
  • Serve over ice with mint sprigs, if desired.
