CROCKPOT GRAPE JELLY BBQ MEATBALLS

Crockpot Grape Jelly BBQ Meatballs image

Lusciously tender crockpot BBQ meatballs with grape jelly, BBQ sauce, and honey! How to make grape jelly BBQ meatballs in a slow cooker.

Provided by Alyssia Sheikh

Categories     Lunch     Lunch & Dinner     Main Course

Time 6h30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

16 oz ground beef
16 oz ground pork
1 large egg (beaten)
1 cup breadcrumbs
⅓ cup onion (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 cup barbecue sauce
⅓ cup ketchup
⅓ cup honey
⅓ cup grape jelly

Steps:

  • Whisk together sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine meatball ingredients, mixing well to integrate.
  • Form mixture into meatballs. I used a 4-tsp cookie scoop to yield 36 meatballs, 1-oz each. (You can freeze the uncooked meatballs if youwant at this point.)
  • To cook, heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add meatballs, leaving space in between so you can turn them over. Use tongs to turn meatballs to brown all sides. (They don't need to be cooked through-just seared on the outside so they won't fall apart in the slow cooker.)
  • Sear in batches until all meatballs are ready.
  • Add half of jelly BBQ sauce to crockpot. Place seared meatballs on top of sauce. Spoon remaining sauce on top of meatballs.
  • Cook fresh meatballs on low heat for 6 hours. (If frozen, cook 8-10 hours.)
  • Serve on skewers for BBQ meatball appetizers, or however you like!

GRAPE JELLY MEATBALLS RECIPE

Grape Jelly Meatballs Recipe image

Four ingredients and 5 minutes of prep time is all you need to make these Grape Jelly Meatballs in your Crockpot! Ketchup and grape jelly combine to form the best sweet and tangy sauce. Your game day or holiday party guests will keep coming back for more of this delicious bite-sized appetizer!

Provided by London Brazil

Categories     Appetizer

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 ½ cups ketchup
¾ cup grape jelly
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce (optional)
36 oz. meatballs (cooked)
Parsley (for garnish, optional)

Steps:

  • Whisk ketchup, jelly, and Worcestershire in either the bottom of a 6-quart Crockpot or in a large pot on the stovetop until smooth.
  • Add meatballs and toss until they are all well coated.
  • For both the slow cooker and the stovetop cooking methods you can either add frozen meatballs directly to the pot or thaw before adding them in. Frozen meatballs will take longer to cook all the way through so you'll need to add an extra hour for the Crockpot and 5-10 minutes on the stovetop.
  • Crockpot: Cook on low for 3-4 hours, or on high for 1-2 hours. Stir the meatballs in the sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking to ensure they do not burn.
  • Stovetop: Cover the pot with a lid and cook over medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through.
  • Give the meatballs a good stir a few times throughout cooking to ensure they do not burn.
  • Serve meatballs with a sprinkle of finely chopped parsley and enjoy!

GRAPE JELLY SLOW-COOKER MEATBALLS

Grape Jelly Slow-Cooker Meatballs image

Many versions of this dish live on the Internet and for good reason-it's quick, easy and a real crowd pleaser. We find some of them a bit too cloying though, so we scaled down the jelly and added a little acidity and heat in the form of Dijon mustard, cider vinegar and hot sauce to create the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. We use beef meatballs, but you can substitute turkey or veggie ones.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 3h5m

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups chili sauce, such as Heinz
1 cup grape jelly
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon hot sauce, such as Tabasco
One 32-ounce bag frozen cocktail-size beef meatballs

Steps:

  • Stir together the chili sauce, jelly, mustard, vinegar and hot sauce in a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker. Add the meatballs and stir to coat with the sauce. Cover and cook on high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or low for 5 to 6 hours.
