1 c brown sugar
1 c rolled oats
1 c all purpose flour
1/2 c melted butter
3 c apples, peeled cored and chopped
1/2 c sugar
2 tsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square pan. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour and butter. Mix until crumbly. Place half of crumb mixture in pan. Spread the apples evenly over crumb mixture. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and top with remaining crumb mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown.

3/4 pint cold brewed tea
12 ounces sugar
4 ounces apricots, chopped
1 1/4 lbs dried fruit
1 egg, beaten
2 cups self-raising flour (heaped cups)

Steps:

  • Soak the apricots, sugar and dried fruit overnight in the cold tea.
  • Stir in morning.
  • Add egg and flour.
  • Bake 1 1/4 hours at 350°F.

Simple, old-fashioned apple crisp. If you want something simple and homemade on hand, you can double the filling recipe (I use a 5-pound bag of Granny Smith apples) and freeze half of it.

6 medium Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
½ cup unsalted butter, diced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for filling in a bowl; transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, flour, oats, butter, and cinnamon for topping in a large bowl. Sprinkle on top of filling.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden and bubbly, about 1 hour.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fruit Mixture: Mix together and spread in bottom of 8 x 8 pan Crisp: Mix together and spoon over top of fruit Bake for 60 minutes
