Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb ground beef
2 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
1/4 c onion, minced (add more or less onion to your taste)
pinch of thyme (optional)
pinch of rosemary (optional)
1/2 - 3/4 c undiluted canned evaporated milk
water (amount varies)

Steps:

  • 1. Put ground beef in a large bowl. Add all other ingredients EXCEPT for the canned milk and water. Whip the mixture with hand mixer to blend well.
  • 2. Slowly add evaporated milk, beating constantly. Add 1/4 to 1/2 water - slowly add more if mixture is too 'stiff'. ***Grandma hadn't written down the amount of water, so my amount is a 'guesstimate'. I do remember that if you make them into regular patties to put into buns they will need to be firmer than the smaller mounds.
  • 3. When all of the liquid is absorbed, cover the bowl and let stand in the refrigertor for a few hours. - It can be cooked right away, but the texture improves upon standing.
  • 4. Drop into small mounds (about 16) in large skillet. Brown over medium heat for 2 minutes on each side, or until cooked through OR form into four regular patties, cooking for several minutes on each side, or until cooked through.

This was one of Grandma's quick and easy meals. She would whip this up in a flash if she had company drop by. Anyone who stopped at Grandma's house got fed. :)

1 lb grounf beef
1 onion, chopped
1 can(s) mushroom soup, condensed
1 can(s) milk (use soup can to measure)
1 c peas
1 small can sliced mushrooms, drained
4 c cooked rice or mashed potatoes

Steps:

  • 1. Brown ground beef and onion, drain grease. Mix soup and milk. Add to beef mixture. Add mushrooms and peas and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Grandma served this over mashed potatoes.

As the title suggests, this was my Grandmother's recipe. I've tweaked the amount of cheese and sour cream depending on what I've got in the fridge and it always turns out great! My mother has suggested this was made up as a way to use up ingredients in the fridge.

1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) package egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
1 large white onion, diced
½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Mix sugar, salt, garlic salt and tomato sauce into ground beef; simmer until flavors blend, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, cover skillet, and cool to room temperature.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain and cool slightly.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Mix sour cream, cream cheese, and onion in a bowl.
  • Scoop half the noodles into the prepared casserole dish; top with half the sour cream mixture. Spoon half the ground beef mixture atop sour cream layer. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients. Top casserole with Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until Cheddar cheese has browned, 25 to 30 minutes.

My grandma made this for us as kids all the time. She passed away two years ago and I recently came across a lot of her recipes and wanted to share them with the Zaar world. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did. It's a quick and easy one dish meal. I always fix up a salad to go with it. This recipe has lots of possibilities. You could add green beans and potatoes to the mixture as well.Addition: I have realized that I did leave out an ingredient in the topping. I found the recipe and looked and--sure enough, you need milk.

1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 medium onion (diced)
1 (16 ounce) can creamed corn
1 (14 ounce) can tomatoes (chopped)
2 tablespoons green peppers (chopped)
salt and pepper
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger, onion and green peppers in pan.
  • Drain the grease.
  • Stir in corn and tomatoes and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour into a 9x13-inch pan.
  • Mix cornbread topping and pour over hamburger mixture.
  • Bake at 425° for 35-45 minute.

1 tablespoon butter

1/3 cup maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • Blend together first five ingredients until smooth and fluffy.
  • In small bowl, combine 1 cup frosting and about half of the cherries (chopped) and half of the almonds.
  • Use this frosting to frost the top of one 9" cake.
  • Place the other cake on top, frost with remaining frosting, and decorate with remaining cherries and almonds.

Slowly add the flour-water mixture to the simmering stock, whisking constantly, until the gravy comes back to a simmer and reaches the desired consistency.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce to taste and simmer hamburger gravy for another 5 to 10 minutes, reducing the heat as needed to keep it just at a simmer. Season to taste with additional salt and pepper if necessary.
