The Best Clam Dip Recipe EVER image

This is my family's signature dip recipe and will make everyone a fan of clams in cream cheese whether they think they like it or not!

Provided by Heidi

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 8- ounce package cream cheese (, at room temperature)
1 6.5- ounce can of minced clams (, drained and juice reserved)
2 green onions (, white and green parts, finely chopped)
1/2 lemon (, juiced)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco sauce to taste

Steps:

  • In a medium sized bowl, mash softened cream cheese with a fork until soft and creamy. Slowly add in 1 tablespoon of clam juice while mixing with fork and cream well. Add lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add green onion and clams to mixture. Add a few dashes of Tabasco to taste. If mixture seems thick, add remaining clam juice in one tablespoon increments to desired consistency. Serve with potato chips or refrigerate for up to 2 days.

CLAM DIP

Clam Dip image

Here now a taste of New England game days circa the time when televisions had dials instead of remotes and, if you couldn't get fresh clams to steam and chop, a can or two from the supermarket would do just fine. (That's still true!) The recipe comes from Brendan McCarthy, a saltwater fishing guide whose charters range from Brooklyn to Montauk, and south to Florida, the Bahamas and the azure waters off Panama, but whose tastes and kitchen skills were first developed in New England and see an apogee in the simplicity of this recipe. The dip benefits from some curing time in the refrigerator and, for some, a heavy hand on the cayenne.

Time 5m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pint sour cream
1 cup cooked and cooled chopped clams, from approximately 2 dozen littleneck clams, or 2 small cans of chopped clams, with three tablespoons of their liquor
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper, or to taste
Spears of red bell pepper, celery and endive, or salted potato chips, for serving

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the sour cream and clams and mix well.
  • Add the lemon juice, Worcestershire, cayenne pepper, salt and white pepper. Adjust seasonings to taste. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, at least an hour.
  • To serve, place a bowl of dip on a platter with spears of red bell pepper, celery and endive, or with salted potato chips.

SHIRLEY'S BAKED CLAM CASSEROLE

Shirley's Baked Clam Casserole image

This is a great basic recipe to cook any of your favorite seafoods... I love using the lobster, langastanos, shrimp and haddock the BEST! Being from New England, my mom loved her seafood, and we had this YUMMY dish quite often growning up, with all these variations! You can easily double or triple the recipe.

GRANDMA WILLIAMS' CLAM DIP

Grandma Williams' Clam Dip image

Without this, Thanksgiving day isn't the same. This is what we make in the morning and snack on ALL day long, until Thanksgiving dinner. Yes it sounds weird, but its delicious, especially with Fritos! And saves VERY well in a seal-tight container in the fridge.

Time 10m

Yield 3-4 cups, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (6 1/2 ounce) minced clams, undrained
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 small green onion, chopped
1 dash garlic salt
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 dash Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together (include the clam juice from the can) and ENJOY!
  • **Tip: if it's too thick, add more clams and clam juice. My family tends to quadruple this recipe, because if we don't, we'll finish it in 5 min--yes, it's that good.
